I’d Do Anything: Cameron Mackintosh & Andrew Lloyd Webber Row Over Rachel’s Departure

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber is reported to have had a furious row with Cameron Mackintosh last week, after he got rid of Rachel Tucker from BBC One’s ‘I’d Do Anything.’

Sir Andrew was faced with the choice after Rachel ended up in the bottom two along with fellow hot favourite, Samantha. Mackintosh, who is producing the Oliver West End show is said to have wanted Rachel for the role.

A source told The Sun: “It was a terrible row. They were screaming at each other.”

Andrew confirmed: “The fact is Cameron wanted Rachel to stay. He wanted Rachel and Samantha in the final from the beginning of the series. Rachel did a fantastic performance but I had to face up to the fact that she wouldn’t have gone any further.

“What I may think professionally is sometimes different to what the public want. I saved Rachel three times and she still ended up in the bottom two.”

Speaking about the argument, he added: “It’s all sorted out now. Things just got rather heated. I’m aware that I have to do the best for somebody else and it’s difficult.”
