The final 12 contestants in BBC One’s new Saturday night talent search show I’d Do Anything have been chosen. They will face the public vote for the first time next Saturday (29 March).
The girls are vying for the chance to play the role in the forthcoming West End revival of Oliver!
They all face the public vote for the first time next Saturday when they will audition for the nation to decide who could be Nancy.
The girls are:
Amy, 24
A graduate of the Birmingham School of Acting, Amy recently toured in a production of Scooby Doo where she played Velma. Amy is very close to her parents, who she grew up with in Birmingham, and feels she owes them a great deal for being so supportive. No stranger to hard work, Amy supports herself when she’s not acting by doing various jobs – including selling ice-creams and programmes for The Sound Of Music at the Palladium in London. Amy is a vegetarian and her worst job ever was as a junior at a hairdressers.
Ashley, 24
Originally from Edinburgh, Ashley trained at Mountview drama school under the Dame Judi Dench Scholarship, and is now a part-time freelance drama/teacher in London. She also worked part time in a debt collector’s office but got fired the day before her first audition. She loves doing accents and is addicted to shopping in charity shops. Ashley is scared of mayonnaise and is obsessed by Michael Buble.
Cleopatra, 21
Confident and cool Londoner Cleo is a “music nut” who strives to be a “diamond-selling recording artist”. Cleo recently set up a drama group for children in her community. A keen performer, Cleo has studied dance at the BRIT school, is currently working on a solo album, and appears in the Sugababes video Stronger. Cleo will only eat raw food and has only left England once but came back as she found it too “boring”.
Francesca, 24
Originally from Wales, Francesca now lives in London where she studied at the Mountview Theatre School. No stranger to ‘treading the boards’, Francesca has previously played Bet in Oliver, was in the tour of Tonight’s The Night and has recently finished performing in the West End production of Rent. Francesca lives by cosmic ordering, still sucks her thumb and loves shepherd’s pie.
Jessie, 18
Jessie is from Co Kerry in Ireland. She has been performing since the age of 7, when she starred in a school production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She plays four instruments and is delighted to be in the final 12. She lives at home with her parents and four younger siblings. Despite being Irish Jessie hates Irish stew.
Jodie, 28
Jodie currently works as an agony aunt and lives with her parents and lots of pets in Blackpool. Due to attending an all-girl’s school and always having to play the male parts, Jodie feels like never got to show her singing abilities until she went to college. A keen salsa dancer, Jodie was almost the Pontins disco champion but lost out to a girl who could do the splits. Jodie has been on TV before, when she won the “The Biggest Loser” show after losing a staggering eight stone in weight. Apparently Jodie can perform a duet with her pet parrot Oscar.
Keisha (pronounced Kaysha), 23
Student and part-time sales assistant Keisha lives in London with her mum, uncle and two sisters. A keen performer, Keisha loves doing accents and has previously had singing lessons. She once wrote a Christmas jingle for the film Jingle Bells Jingle Bells and appeared on Saturday Disney when she was 11. If she was ever stranded on a desert island she would taker her bible with her.
Niamh, 17
Northern Irish girl Niamh is currently studying A-level Drama. She is classically voiced trained, and sung a solo at the opening of Belfast’s Grand Opera House. Niamh loves spicy food and will always order a steak in a restaurant. Her favourite place in the world is New York.
Rachel, 26
Originally from Belfast, newly engaged Rachel is completely and utterly in love with her fiancé and can’t believe she managed to find her soul mate when the world is so big! Rachel trained at the Royal Academy of Music and currently works for a company that employs out-of-work actors. She is a keen painter and decorator and enjoys sport. Rachel once worked for her brother as a fish fryer but ended up smelling of fish for days after!
Samantha, 17
Samantha moved away from the Isle of Man when she was 16 and is currently studying in London. No stranger to performing, Samantha recently entered a Maltese TV International Song competition and won. She has also supported the Sugababes and Matt Willis on the Isle of Man. Samantha is obsessed with Catherine Zeta Jones and scared of mittens. Samantha hates vegetables and would be happy living on a diet of chocolate.
Sarah, 25
Originally from Cardiff, Sarah loves London so much she works five jobs to keep her living here – including working in call centres and selling the Evening Standard! Sarah trained at the Royal Academy of Music but often feels that she gets cast in young roles. She sees Nancy as her chance to “grow up a bit”. Sarah is obsessed with Paul Daniels and when she was growing up she idolised him – when she finally met him she was speechless - and would love to be his assistant for the day.
Tara, 24
Welsh girl Tara trained at the Redroofs Theatre School and has just finished a nine-month contract on a Welsh soap opera. Tara’s father is an ex-pro wrestler and Tara’s worst job was working for her father’s wrestling company where she had to load and unload the wrestling ring. While her parents were working Tara was babysat by ‘Giant Haystacks’ and ‘Mad Monk Rasputin’! As well as the soap opera, Tara has presented on Welsh channel SC4 and has had a CD on sale in Wales.
