I’d Do Anything: Francesca Jackson In With Judges
The BBC are going to face a very angry public if they put Francesca Jackson through to the live shows of I’d Do Anything, as the 23 year old actress is a good friend to one of the judges.
Jackson has previously played Denise Van Outen’s lesbian lover in West End musical Rent last year. She has also shared a flat with former Maria winner, Connie Fisher.
A BBC spokesman said: “Francesca got there on merit.
“The public will decide who wins.”

This whole thing is a politically corfrect farce from the start. Let’s remember Nancy was (as Dickens portrayed her) a white girl from the poorer part of London. She wasn’t Welsh, Irish or Scottish like seven of the contestants are (out of 12); she wasn’t black (as the only two contestants from London are); and she didn’t come from up north as the other three do. Where in this line-up is the genuine white East End cockney that Nancy was?
This isn’t prejudiced, I believe that everyone should have a fair chance of getting a job as an airline pilot or a bank manager or a BBC producer, but this is an audition for a part very carefully scripted by Dickens in his book.
Have you ever seen Porgy and Bess played with a cast of people as diverse as this - of course not because that would be quite ridiculous and the outcry would be enormous!
This whole idea has started to collapse with this stupid BBC brand of political correctness gone mad. The only person in the show with the true credentials for the part is Denise Van Outen - and she’s judging it!!
i completely agree its not fair at all! i think niamh should definately win shes so talented and has such a great voice at such a young age! niamh4nancy!!!
In response to Martin’s comment: May I just point out you cannot simply claim something is not prejudiced and that will make it so. What you are saying is so obviously prejudiced it makes me quite angry. For a start you quite clearly don’t understand the concept of acting where an actor or actress is able to portray the role of a character that may be completely different to themselves. Regardless of whether the girl who wins is genuinely from london or not is irrelevant because if they are talented enough to win the part they will be talented enough to make the audience believe that they’re a true londoner. Only ignorant people such as yourself would worry yourself about someones nationality or the colour of their skin rather than an obvious talent.
Tell Dickens that!
