I’d Do Anything: Is Jodie Prenger Too Fat For Nancy?

Jodie Prenger may have already lost a whopping 11 stone, as part of Living reality TV show, ‘The Biggest Loser’, but it seems as though that might not be enough for Cameron Mackintosh.
Jodie is up against Jessie and Samantha in this weeks I’d Do Anything final, however Oliver producer Cameron Mackintosh is said to favour the slimmer girls for the roile of Nancy.
‘Cameron thinks she is a bit too big and has more or less said so,’ said Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber to the Daily Mirror.
But Sir Andrew disagreed with Mackintosh and said:
‘She has got a lovely voice and a super personality. She has experience as well.’

At the end of the day, Nancy is whoever the audience is presented with. If CM wanted a slimmer Nancy, then he shouldn’t have let Jodie through to the main show. It’s not like he and the panel haven’t communicated! To give people in this type of show false hope and then to publicly state an opinion on something that isn’t even in his power to change, is callous, unreasonable and slightly nauseating.
I hope she wins!
Jodie has a big build and she danced sooooo much better than Sam in Jesus Christ Superstar. And does Nancy have to dance that much anyway? Jodie to win!!!
I’m so glad Jodie won! It was obvious that CM wanted Jessie or Sam to win, and thats why I was even more determined to vote and let Jodie win! Sam was dead in her eyes and Jessie just had this really weird stare in her eyes like a disconcerted bird all the time! Jodie was the most real and convincing, and she was most like a mum, which is what Nancy needed to be! Well done Jodie! xxx
[...] Prenger has hit back at Oliver producer, Cameron Mackintosh after he implied she was too fat for the role of Nancy, and revealed his preference for fellow contestant [...]
This i show it went down
Sam: Didn’t win because she was the prettiest and UK girls dont ever allow the best looking one to win. ANd that she wasn’t fat didnt help. She had that something like Julie Andrews and at her age she would ahev only gotten better. he voice had a strong likeability factor. Power when needed and sweetness when nescessary.
jessie: She was getting mainly the Irish vote which kept her in week after week but at the final it wasnt enough, Her constant I must win because Im ready and her playing on her irishness which they always do was a turn off for many. Her Irish accent kept showing through on every song but apart from that her voice and performances were good.
Jodie: The winner because she is fat, and thats the bottom line. Her shouty voice was and still isnt anything special because there are many like her. The british public always mistake shoutyness for power and strength in a voice.
However the shows producer who made it obvious jesse was his Nancy should learn his lesson that showing obvious bias will work against him. If he had made it obvious Jodie was his total favourite the public wouldnt like that and wouldnt have voted for her. They would have then began to think, no, I wont let the fat one do well for being fat..
Call me cynical, but that’s Britain for you in 2008
Cynthia, please dont make a fool of yourself by saying that jessie had only the irish vote – because i dont know if people got this or not but THE REPUBLC OF IRELAND COULD NOT VOTE
Jessie was by far the most talented singer and actor on the stage. It’s criminal that fat talentless Jodie won. I just hope the critics savage her on opening night. I suspect she won’t be in the role for long. I won’t be surprised to see either Jessie or Samantha taking over the role from her at some stage.
Jessie was fantastic and gave moving performances. She is a slightly awkward mover but this can be fixed easily. You can’t instill talent and star quality in people who have none such as Jodie and Sam. Jessie has star quality in abundance. She will be a major player in the West End in years to come. And she could never have won with the Irish vote because the Irish weren’t allowed to vote. All her votes came from the UK. Cynthia it sounds like you have a dislike for all things Irish.
As for Rachel, yes she had talent but couldn’t show it effectively. I found her cold and closed off to the public and this is why she lost. I don’t think Nancy was the right role for her. I expect to see her do well in another role in the West End.
Is it just me who thinks that Samantha is rubbish and should never have gotten through to the last few. She is dead behind the eyes and I can’t believe ALW axed Rachel to save her. Being good looking is not a talent.
Jodie is awful miss cabaret. She will be dismal in the role of Nancy. Yes she is a lovely person but I don’t pay good money to see a lovely person I want to see an actress. She never acted well, is too fake and overacts. She doesn’t deserve a leading role. I just bet ALW is so glad that this isn’t one of his shows.
Overall I think the selection for the final 12 was poor bar from Jessie and possibly Rachel. Maria and Joseph had far better talented actors and singers. It’s a bad sign when no one is standing out from the crowd early one.
jodie is and always will be the winner i see her as a young bette midler, jessie was weird the way she sang at the side of her mouth. i went to see her in the previews and she is totally stunning, both her singing and acting. i am so glad i payed the good money to vote, i know i got the right girl for the job
Oh Lisa, bet your eating your words now, Rachel doing very well, Samantha doing very well. Both girls are Leading Ladies, and Jessie, we shall see if she ever makes Leading Lady?
