Rapper Aggro Santos is used to rubbing shoulders with sexy women – he has just had a chart hit with Pussycat Dolls’ Kimberly Wyatt and he is set to release a new single featuring Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh and so it’s no surprise to learn then, that the pop star is hoping there will be some pretty girls he can chat to in the jungle.
Aggro – who reached number five in the charts with his debut single ‘Candy’ earlier this year selling over 250,000 copies – hopes his sexy fellow celebrities will help quell any spells of boredom.
Smiling, he says: “If I am bored, I hope there are some interesting girls in there to talk to.”
But the cheeky rapper isn’t necessarily looking for love under the stars.
“I am single, but I am not looking to go into the jungle to fall in love!” he stresses, “I’m hoping for a great adventure.”
He admits going on I’ m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! caps an incredible year for the star.
“If someone had asked me a year ago to go on this show, I would have thought they were joking!” he admits. “It has been such a busy year what with my first chart hit and recording this new single with Kimberley, which will be released in January. I have had no time off and so although it is not a holiday, I am looking forward to the break away from my phone and Blackberry!”
He is dreading taking part in the trials. “I don’t know which is worse, jumping out of the plane or eating a bug,” he chuckles. “It will be quite daunting, and I am sure I will learn a lot about myself. I look on this whole experience as a surreal visit to Thorpe Park! I am going to go for it though!”
He says he will miss “socialising with his friends” the most during his trip to Australia, but thinks he will be able to cope with the lack of food. “I am preparing myself mentally for it,” he adds.
He thinks his role in the camp will be to have a laugh and to chat to everyone. Shakira and Snoop Dogg would be his dream celebrity fellow campers.
“I am sorry but I won’t be the cook,” he says. “I just want to have a laugh and some fun. It would be cool to be in with someone like Snoop Dogg or Shakira…it would be good to get to know them.”
A laid back guy, Aggro reckons he won’t lose his cool if other celebrities are driving him around the bend.
“I love an argument when I know I am right,” he says. “But I do have a high threshold in terms of people who get on my nerves. When I told my mum I was going in the jungle, her reaction was ‘are you sure you want to eat those bugs?’ But I will never know until I get in there!”
But the rapper doesn’t like people who lie. “If I think someone lies a lot, I will spot it,” he continues. “I don’t like people who are fake. I don’t like someone who doesn’t respect your space. I am a respectful person.”
Aggro stresses he definitely is not going in the jungle to get more work, but he does hope that by going on such a high profile TV programme, he will be able to reach out to a wider audience in the future. “This does bring me mainstream,” he says. “It’s been the most crazy year of my life and going in the jungle is going to top it off. I doubt next year will be as eventful! It is an exciting time for me right now and I cannot believe my luck.
“I am really excited about what the jungle will bring and I don’t know if I will break down or not. But I am really looking forward to hearing all the stories around the campfire and making some new friends…”
