I’m A Celebrity 2012: Hugo Taylor stopped crying long enough to do well in Savage Sewer & Charlie Brooks’ mum says “We haven’t seen very much of her”

Made In Chelsea star – and spoiled brat – Hugo Taylor has alternated between tears and tantrums during his time in the jungle so far…

He tends to cry and/or chuck his toys out of the pram when he doesn’t get his own way or when he feels put upon by the hardships of camp life, so it was with some surprise that I read in the Mirror this morning that he actually did well during his Bushtucker trial, Savage Sewer!

He apparently landed 11 stars, which equates of course to 11 meals for camp, having managed to endure several minutes underground in “pipes filled with snakes, rats, crabs and lizards.”

Something of a far cry from Mahiki…although…

But I digress, and the paper reports that before the trial started, Hugo was uncharacteristically upbeat, saying, “I’m happy for Helen [Flanagan] because she gets a day off.”

However, the whining was of course not far away as he said, “I hate being underground. It’s my worst thing.”

What? Worse than your allowance from mummy and daddy being cut? Worse than running out of caviar? Surely not…

However, it seems he “bravely tackled five of the pipes” but refused to enter the one containing spiders, saying, “I’m not doing it.”

He later said, “I’m disappointed I didn’t do them all. I can’t do spiders.”

Yesterday, co-host Dec Donnelly told This Morning viewers, “He did all right.

“He did quite well but he was having a bad morning in camp and he was honestly really very nervous.

“It was a hideous trial he had to do – it was smelly and dirty and a lot of critters and rats and stuff involved so he did pretty well considering.

“They (the celebrities) will be happy, they’ll have a bit of food.”

And Ant McPartlin added, “There were a few girlie screams.”

We’ll see the full coverage of Hugo’s trial in tonight’s extended show on ITV1.

Meanwhile, Charlie Brooks’ mum Roe reckons that we’re not getting to see enough of her daughter on the show.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror on her arrival in Australia with Charlie’s daughter Kiki, Roe said, “I don’t think we’ve seen very much of her.

“I’d love the producers to show a bit more.”

However, she added that she’s glad the EastEnders star hasn’t had to do any Bushtucker trials yet.

She said, “Kiki would love to see her doing loads of them – but I hate it. I don’t like seeing her like that.”

Roe went on to say, “I can’t wait to see her, but I don’t want to see her yet as I want to see her win.

“Are we seeing the real Charlie? Not yet. She’s got a lot more to offer.

“I’m really proud of her. I couldn’t be happier.”

Roe added that Charlie’s boyfriend Ben Hollington was also travelling out to Australia to support her, saying, “Ben’s lovely. He’s a really, really great guy.

“They’ve been together a couple of months and are really lovely together. He’s absolutely great.”

Would you like to see more coverage of Charlie? For now, here’s a reminder of Hugo and David Haye taking part in the very first of this year’s Bushtucker trials…
