I’m A celebrity 2008 may be cancelled this week if weather conditions do not improve.

The celebrities were forced to leave camp a few nights ago and shelter in the Bush Telegraph after torrential rain caused some flooding.

A spokeswoman for the show told MSN: "The safety of the celebrities and our crew is the priority. We know that this can be a hostile environment.

"If the camp floods completely then the celebrities will be taken out. The show will not be cancelled."

Bushtucker trials executive Chris Lore, 41, said: "It’s the hardest we’ve ever been hit by the weather this year. We had so much big stuff to kick off the show with but we had to reschedule. There is no way we could do some of the trials in the mud."

Esther Rantzen told her campmates: "It’s called a rainforest because it rains."

She added: "They evacuated the camp just in time. We might have been swept away."
