I’m A Celebrity: George Hamilton makes Stuart Manning cry!

by Lisa McGarry

On tonight’s I’m A Celebrity Hollywood star George told Stuart that he should open up a bit more if he wants to win the show but his caring words left the former Hollyoaks actor in tears.

George said: ‘I think you have the best shot of winning the whole match as an all round hand. I think it’s more important for you to win this show for your career and for your life than the others. I’d like to see you stay the course and have fun with it. One of the things you need to think about, and if it’s out of line, you just tell me, but you need to open up a bit more about who you are because you are coming across great but good guys don’t always win in this life, that’s for sure.

‘You are very modest and you don’t toot your own horn but your challenge is to make the people like you for things they don’t know about you yet, that’ll add to the whole thing – have a think about it.’

We were talking the other night and this is not my business but I think you have the best shot of winning the whole match as an all-around hand, Gino has that chance, Kim strangely enough has it, I don’t know whether Sabrina has it or not she may have the ability but you guys are front line winners.

Stuart choked with emotion, took himself off to a quiet part of the camp and cried. Sabrina followed him and asked him what was wrong.

‘I’m missing my dad and something George said to me hit home, George is a poignant man and it caught me for five minutes, completely got me. He said be yourself and open up a bit more and I find it so hard sometimes.

‘To open up about my family and private life, I get like this. I find it difficult and I get upset, and when he said that I thought about my family and I lost it a bit and didn’t want to cry in front of everyone else.’’

Sabrina comforted Stuart saying” ‘He didn’t pass that long ago and you miss him a lot. Wherever he is, he’s proud of you, he’s looking down and he’s with you. When something like that happens, it rocks your world.’

Stuart agreed: ‘Very much so. Two years, I was trying to get used to it and had it under control because I could speak about him but being in here you have so much time to think and when George said that – show yourself a little bit more to people – I just thought I don’t know how to. You know Gino’s funny, you are lovely, George is amazing but I don’t know if my life is either boring or I don’t want to look an idiot with some of my stories and I don’t want to get upset by talking about my dad. As soon as Gino asked if I was alright, the tears started flooding down again.’

Sabrina assured him: ‘No, you are the life and soul of the party keeping us all together, you are our croc. No one understands it like you.’

Thanking her for talking to him, Stuart then kissed Sabrina on the cheek.

George said to Gino: ’He’s a deeply emotional guy and he closes off, he doesn’t want to talk about anything’.
