Classical musician and TV presenter, Myleene Klass, is about to fulfill a life-long ambition by going to the jungle, even if she has one or two phobias to overcome before she becomes a fully fledged Jungle Jane.

“I am scared of snakes, spiders, heights and … the dark. I have always been scared of the dark. When I used to work in theatre I was a chorus girl in my first job and I didn’t have the guts to say [I was scared of the dark].

“I was on the top floor and I would always be the quickest changed and people used to think I was trying to be efficient but it was because I did not want to be the last person to walk across the stage because it would be pitch black.”

But despite her fears and phobias, Myleene can’t wait for the experience itself as its something she has always said she would do: “People have a hidden agenda as to what they want to get out of the experience, but mine is just to get into the experience. I just want to get into the jungle – it’s as simple as that!

“I like the work I am doing, I wouldn’t change any of that. I like my social set up, it is genuinely because when I was 13 it was one of the things I wanted to do. I did a project on the Amazon Rain Forest and I said to my Dad ‘I am going to go to the jungle one day’.

The former member of band Hearsay, has her views on those that may have an ulterior motive: “If you go in there with an agenda that you can’t control I don’t understand.

“I do understand why you do it, but I couldn’t personally control that for such a long period of time - monitor everything I say, make sure it’s about plugging the new album. I have the opportunity to record another album when I get out anyway so the work side is wonderful and I love that.”

Myleene, who is engaged to Gray, her boyfriend of four years, describes herself as a feisty people person: “I think I will play a big sister role – the one who chats, does people’s hair, does the cooking and does the washing up.

“I am an all-rounder but its not a case of sitting there and agreeing with everyone. I like feisty people, not argumentative, but with opinions that can spark something up.”

“I like people. I will probably be the annoying one – as I will keep asking questions and chatting away. I like to know about people. I think you can always learn and always improve.

“I love different cultures, different mindsets. I’ve said it before – it takes a lot of fruit to make a pie – and this is definitely the case. There will be a lot of fruits in there!â€?
