The news that Jan had been chosen by the British public to do the next Bush Tucker trial provoked an emotional response from the former news reader who broke down in tears when she heard.

Seeing how distraught she was, David went to the Bush Telegraph to ask if he could do the trial in her place. As this wasn’t possible a compromise was reached and Jan chose Jason to go along and support her while she carried out the gruesome Snake Bite Trial.

Jason and Jan headed off to do the trial – Snake Bite.

“You must be sick of the sight of us,” joked Ant and Dec when she met them at the Trials area.

“I loathe and abhor snakes – but I will give it a go.” Jan said.

Bound by the ankles Jan was lowered into a perspex chamber with containers on the outside containing jungle critters and snakes.

Each container held a star as well as a snake or spider and Jan had to puncture the container with her hand to retrieve the star. She had five minutes to get a possible twelve stars and managed a fantastic 10.

“I’m crying because I am so happy,” she said as she got out of the tank in tears and hugged Jason. “I asked God to help me sand I felt very calm. I feel amazing. Delighted we will eat well tonight. ”

Camp were shocked and delighted at the news.

Matt said: “Everyone was so surprised. To come back with so many stars – we are all chuffed.”
