I’m A Celebrity: Stars Split Into Two Camps!

Ant and Dec had a surprise up their sleeves for the unsuspecting celebrities today when they revealed that they would be split into two teams and that the battle for jungle supremacy started here.

For the first time ever, two celebrities would go head to head in a challenge that affect their time in the Australian outback – before they even set foot in the jungle camp.

All of the celebrities had been taken to the Gold Coast’s luxury Palazzo Versace either by limousine or boat.  The celebrities were split into two groups dependent on their method of transport and told to nominate one volunteer who would take part in a challenge called Trauma Tank.

They were given no more details of what the task would entail but Ant and Dec explained that the result would determine how they would live for the foreseeable future.

The two groups were:

Group one: Brian Paddick, Dani Behr, Joe Swash, George Takei and Martina Navratilova.

Group two: Esther Rantzen, Carly Zucker, Simon Webbe, Nicola McLean and Robert Kilroy-Silk.

In group one, Joe immediately volunteered.  ‘I will do it if no one will’.  Brian told him ‘If you want to do it you’re a good man’.  ‘So no pressure’ joked Dani.

Martina and Brian exchanged words and Brian said ‘A lot is hanging on it.  Wanting to do it isn’t the right thing.  And Martina added ‘I don’t know if I trust him to get us a better camp.’  Joe offered to step down but Martina said ‘Alright go for it’.  Dani had some words of encouragement. ‘You’re an East End boy.  Go for it.’ And George added ‘You’ve got youth, and confidence.’ So Joe was Group one’s nominated volunteer.

Meanwhile in Group two Carly quickly revealed to her new team that she would be up for the challenge admitting that she is ‘really psyched up at the moment but if you don’t think I can. . ‘

Offering some words of reassurance, Esther said ‘If we get the horrible camp we will not blame you and we will support you.’ But revealing his competitive streak, Robert was keen to stress that ‘we’ve got to win.’

The team’s discussion then turned to who would be most likely to succeed and singer Simon reluctantly agreed to step up to the challenge.

Noticing his reluctance, Carly asked if Simon was just doing this to be a ‘to be a gentleman’ admitting ‘I don’t necessarily want to do it but I will.’

Reassuring Carly that he would step up to the challenge, the group decided that Simon should take on their first trial.
