ITV sold their I’m A Celebrity format to US TV network ABC back in 2003 and the show made its debut on the channel the same year. However despite its raging success in the UK the show never returned to American TV screens after its first series.

News has emerged this week that network NBC have now picked up the show and intend to feature new episodes of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! for a special run this June.

The show will air Mondays through Thursdays for three weeks beginning June 1 and then air Monday through Wednesday during the fourth week of June.

“This is a concept that has worked really well, all around the world,” says NBC head of scheduling Mitch Metcalf of I’m a Celebrity…, which is based on an international reality-show format from Granada America. “It will jump start our summer.”
