American Idol 2013: Former judge Steven Tyler returns to audition for show disguised as a drag queen!
Former American Idol judge, Steven Tyler, has made a surprise return, auditioning for the show disguised as a drag artist!
Tyler, who quit the shows panel last year after being a judge for the tenth and eleventh series of the hit US talent show, walked out on stage in front of the shows current judging panel consisting of Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nikki Minaj, wearing a grey-animal print dress and long blonde wig.
Introducing himself as “Pepper LaBeija from the House of LaBeija” in reference to the late Harlem drag artist of the same name, Tyler, who is the front man for mega rock group, Aerosmith, was quickly rumbled by the judges, who then insisted he still sing for them!
“Do I go through to Hollywood, or what?” Tyler asked through the laughter.
To which Urban replied: “You have to sing! You have to sing.”
Instead, Tyler said: “I just wanted to come by and say hello to everybody… I tried so hard, [but] no Hollywood.”
This prompted Randy Jackson to quip in:
“Hey, I think Boston is in your future,” as Tyler mooned the judges before leaving the stage.
As per his usual form Tyler, whose bad language during his time as a judge earned him a record amount of editing, again used up the show’s beeper during his two minute audition.
American Idol airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on Fox in the US. The show airs on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on 5* in the UK.
