The American Idol semi finals are almost here, and the top three have been decided after Hollie Cavanagh became the latest reject from the eleventh series of the popular talent show.

Ryan Seacrest announced that the 16 year old, who performed I Can’t Make You Love Me and Faithfully during the live show, received the fewest votes from the public pole, bringing the young girl’s dream to an end.

This means that this years semi finalist are Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Phillip Phillips, who will all take to the stage for the penultimate show next week  in a bid to become this years American Idol.

During the results show, judge Jennifer Lopez, took to the stage to perform her single Dance Again, and previous American Idol winner David Cook took to the stage that launched his career to sing his latest hit, The last Song I’ll Ever Write For You.

The American Idol semi-finals will take place on Wednesday, May 16 and Thursday, May 17 at 8/7c on Fox.
