Arabella Weir’s Tough Gig
Tough Gig follows one of the six comics as they are plucked from their day-to-day lives and totally immersed into a new world, where they will live, work, sleep and socialise. The series will also offer an insight into some of the most fascinating and unusual communities.
This week is the turn of Arabella Weir (star of The Fast Show and regular contributor to Grumpy Old Women) as she crosses to the other side when she spends a week at Ghost Festival in Edinburgh, joining clairvoyants and ghostbusters as they hold vigils and hunt for poltergeists. These people take the spirit world very seriously but Arabella is a non-believer.
Arabella will have just days to create a completely new stand-up routine based entirely on her experience. If that wasn’t enough, the routine must be performed to an audience comprising of people from her adopted ‘world’. How will her new material go down? Will she succeed?

I just heard that ‘Tough Gig’ has been cancelled by ITV as the viewing audience on the last episode dipped to below 800,000. What a shame…I thought it was not bad…different to the other stuff on at the moment, I guess it just didn’t find it’s audience in time. Tycoon too seems to have suffered from a lack of regular viewers and is being chunted off to a graveyard time. Strange…two shows…one kind of unique and the other a homage (a polite way to say rip-off) to the other business reality shows was not unique and that failed too. Poor show makers must be scratching their heads trying to decide what to do next!
