Arlene Phillips may have been sacked from the judging panel of Strictly Come Dancing, but the 66 year old has landed a new job already. Arlene will join Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley on the panel of The One Show, as the show’s Strictly expert.

BBC confirmed today that Arlene would be replaced on Strictly by former winner Alesha Dixon and expert Darcey Bussell.

“Arlene played a vital role in making Strictly a hit and I would like to thank her for all her work on the show,” said BBC One controller Jay Hunt.

“I am delighted she is now forging a new relationship with BBC One by joining the highly-successful One Show team.”

Speaking about her move, Phillips said: “I am delighted to be part of The One Show. I will miss Strictly. It has been a big part of my life for six years.”

I for one won’t be watching the show in future. I don’t always agree with Arlene but do respect her. All four judges are integeral to the show. How can they get rid of Arlene but leave all the other and not say it is to do with ageism. Bad move by who ever made this decision.
