Australian Princess: Prince Michael Steps In

After weeks of hard graft and nail-biting eliminations, the remaining six princesses-in-training head to England and are introduced to a world they have only ever imagined. They dine with royalty, experience the Royal Derby in the presence of the Queen and are courted by three sophisticated English gents – a future Baronet, a member of the exclusive Chelsea ‘party set’ and a young property developer with a secret.
Unbeknownst to our princesses-in-training, the property developer is actually Prince Michael, an undercover prince who will crown one of the girls Australian Princess 2 at a lavish masked ball held at Leeds Castle in her honour.
But only one girl will reach the pinnacle. Who will shake off their old life to dance with a real prince and be crowned the next Australian Princess? Don’t miss this real life My Fair Lady fairytale with a sprinkling of the Cinderella story.
It’s the last leg of the Australian side of the competition and by the end of this episode two girls will have to say goodbye to their dreams of becoming an Australian Princess.
Jackie O meets our girls at the Princess Mansion and explains that this week they will get their first taste of dealing with people less privileged than themselves. They will also learn how to use the media to help them in their charity work.
Jackie sends them off to the notorious Block in Sydney’s Redfern where the girls help prepare a barbaque for the local Aborigines. The girls play with the local children and later hand out blankets to people sleeping rough on the inner-city streets. All of the girls are moved by their charity experience; country Kate has never even seen a homeless person before and Carolyn is literally moved to tears.
The following day starts bright and early as Paul sets the next challenge. Tomorrow the wannabe princesses must become mentors for young girls from less privileged backgrounds. In preparation Caroline Dale from the Smith Family takes them through the charity’s Mentor Programme.
The girls are very enthusiastic about the class. As princesses-in-training they are all very keen to become positive role models to all. However, Paul doesn’t think Carla is taking the class as seriously as she should be, especially when he finds her doodling gravestones and other gothic images during Caroline’s class! Contrastingly, this is the first task in which Kylie has actually impressed Jean, but Paul is very disappointed by Amy who up untill now has been his favourite.
As Always, Leanne does well and she and Kylie earn a High Tea at the Victoria Room. Jackie O joins them to catch up on how their week is going and to find out the fallout from last week’s blazing row. Can Leanne and Kylie put their differences aside?
The remaining girls are given instructions on how to polish silver - to Buckingham Palace standards of course. Even though the girls stay up untill midnight polishing, Paul is not impressed with the job the finished product and soon loses control of his temper. However, Paul’s outburst simply leaves Carolyn and Stephanie in a fit of giggles.
Next up Paul gives the girls a lesson on how to deal with the media. The final challenge of the week is to front a press conference to promote the Smith Family. However, when you are in the media spotlight, it is hard to keep your private life private and soon the journalists start asking questions about Carla’s bisexuality, Amanda’s republican attitude and Carolyn’s past affairs. Paul, Jean and Jane watch horrified as some of the girls forget Paul’s lesson from the day before!
With the judges’ shock decision last week to keep all the girls, two girls have to go home this week and the judges deliberate long into the night. Which girls will be chosen and lose their chance to fly to England and be crowned Australian Princess?
