Day 16 in the Big Brother house was a biggie, given that not only was the new/old rule about nominations revealed but also the housemates passed their shopping task and therefore landed a budget of a whopping £840.

However, as far as Lydia was concerned, the only thing of any import whatsoever was the fact that it was her 26th birthday, and for the majority of the day, it was a fact that Big Brother completely ignored.

But nonetheless, once the task was officially over – even though there had been literally no mention of Lydia’s birthday from BB – everybody started getting dressed up and made up for the party that they were sure was going to ensue.

So when Big Brother called the housemates to the sofas for an announcement, a delighted Lydia could barely contain herself as she waited for the news she’d hung on for all day; that a party, a cake and pressies was about to occur…

Imagine then her disappointment when instead, Big Brother only announced that housemates must not discuss their nominations.

After the announcement, Lydia burst into tears, saying, “The whole day has gone and they haven’t even said ‘happy birthday’.”

And if she hadn’t already made it clear, she added, “Time is fading away,” before concluding, “This is the s**test birthday in the whole of the land.”

However, Big Brother couldn’t be that cruel – dammit – and called Lydia into the Diary Room to give her a gift in the form of a phone call from ‘famous’ fiancé Andy Scott-Lee. Click here to see that emotional moment.

When she went back into the house, there was of course a party waiting, and birthday joy ensued…

But Adam stole some of her birthday thunder by proposing marriage to Shievonne! Why? Not a Scooby, so I can only assume he thought it would be funny? Click here to see his somewhat long-winded proposal.

However once that was over, it was pool time and perhaps predictably, Becky made a splash/tsunami by leaping into the pool fully clothed. Click here to see that occurrence.
