Tonight saw the third Big Brother eviction of the summer 2012 series and in the firing line this evening was Benedict Garret and Lauren Carre.

The teacher turned porn star and the criminology student received six votes each when their fellow housemates nominated earlier this week and at first, it seemed that Benedict would be the contestant sure to leave.

However, over the last few days, bookies have slashed their odds on Lauren going, offering 4/7 on Benedict’s departure and 5/4 on Carre getting voted off, so tonight’s result was by no means a foregone conclusion.

And it was Benedict Garrett who was the third person  be evicted from Big Brother 2012.

Garret took the news questionably, grabbing a desk chair and walking out of the house with it over his head, an act which left his remaining housemates baffled and worried that they would be punished for the defiance in his absence.

Benedict’s  final words upon leaving the house were aimed at housemate Luke Scrase:  ”Sorry about the curry powder” in reference to his secret prank of putting curry powder in Luke’s protein shake the two nights previous to the eviction, with his involvement in the prank going unidentified until his parting confession.

Back on the outside, Benedict was met by a mixture of cheers and boos, a reaction which it would seem didn’t surprise or phase him, as he explained to Big Brother host, Brian Dowling: ”I have strong opinions, I made them known, and I don’t expect everyone to agree with them.”

Throughout his time in the house Benedict’s behaviour was considered somewhat controversial, especially when he admitted to masturbating in the shower, a confession he believes cost him his place in the competition.  Despite this the 32-year old showed no signs of regret or remorse for his actions telling Dowling:  ”there was no-one that I wanted to have had sexual relations with in the house, and I would pleasure myself if I was at home. We should be proud to masturbate”.
