Big Brother 2012: Fears for Scott Mason after he drinks AFTERSHAVE during booze ban!
According to a report in the Daily Star today, Big Brother bosses are concerned about housemate Scott Mason after he was spotted trying to drink aftershave during the four days the housemates were denied alcohol as a punishment for talking about nominations.
It seems Scott was furious over the ban, and within hours, he was spotted by Big Brother’s cameras spraying aftershave into his mouth, which he later said was intended to give him “a buzz” given that perfumes and aftershaves contain the pure alcohol, ethanol.
A show insider told the paper that “horrified” Big Brother producers immediately called Scott into the Diary Room to warn him of the potential health risks posed by his actions.
The source added, “They were gobsmacked by what he had done. This has never happened on the show before…”
Last night, a show spokesman said, “Scott was asked not to spray perfume into his mouth for health and safety reasons.”
And it seems that it’s not only the show’s producers who are worried about Scott’s seeming reliance on booze because a few of his fellow housemates have also addressed the issue with him.
Evicted housemate Benedict Garrett was among the first to discuss Scott’s drinking habits with him, but Scott dismissed Benedict’s concerns, branding him “a preacher.”
However, Scott is of course still dealing – one assumes – with the death of his sister, which he learned about on June 13th.
At the time, Scott briefly left the BB house in order to spend a short time with family members before returning and vowing to continue with the show.
Since then, there has been no mention of what Scott told his housemates was “a family matter” and it’s unclear if they even know Scott’s sister passed away. And as he hasn’t been absent from the house since, I guess we can assume he decided not to attend her funeral.
Point being that I guess in times of crisis, many of us to do turn to booze, so hopefully, the aftershave incident was very much a one-off and possibly an uncharacteristic reaction to his grieving.
That said, I have to admit to being a regular drinker – though hopefully not in the league of alcoholic – and nothing but nothing would make me spray aftershave into my mouth!
What do you reckon? Does it sound like Scott has a real issue with alcohol to you, or was it just a bizarre reaction to having the booze ban?
And if you do think he might be alcoholic, should BB be morally obligated to remove him from the house or not?
After all, smoking is an unhealthy addiction, but nobody’s up in arms about the fact that, when there were no cigs in the house, Adam Kelly smoked a rolled up banana skin…
Is this so different?

I’ve only just found out Scott’s sister died. I assumed it was a distant relative as he didn’t seem too upset. Surely any normal person would have left immediately to attend the funeral and grieve? Is potential fame and fortune more important to him than his deceased sister? I liked him, but this has turned me right off him.
