Big Brother 2012: New series will feature live feed, but not 24/7
Channel 5 have announced that the forthcoming new series of Big Brother will feature a live feed, however, it’s only for an hour a day and even then, only after eviction shows.
The format was tried during the last series of Celebrity Big Brother, where cameras went live to the house on Channel 5’s sister channel, 5* and as it proved a hit with viewers, the broadcaster decided to continue the live feed.
Yesterday, host Brian Dowling said, “Live feed is back after every live show. There will be an hour on 5*.
“We did that in January and it worked. When we did live celeb nominations I think over a million watched, which was record-breaking for 5*.
“I think people realised then that there really was an interest in live feed…”
However, thousands of fans think it defeats the purpose of the show to block 24/7 live feeds from the house, but despite numerous protests via social networking sites and chat forums, Channel 5 have consistently refused to reinstate the ‘red button’ and online access.
The new series kicks off on Tuesday, June 5th at 9pm, with an hour long look at the auditions airing at 8pm.

I can’t believe that chan 5 still isn’t giving us the chance to get to know the house mates and trust the public to make their own mind up about them as individuals!!! Channel 4 & also 5 are scared of public and press and bad publicity , if people don’t like reality shows don’t watch it then they won’t moan !! I don’t like football and they do a lot of things that I feel is out of order but you don’t see me up in arms about it . I just don’t watch it ! I wish 5 would grow a pair and stop being dictated to by people who don’t even follow it properly, have faith in the British public From a /was 24/7 follower now were lucky if it’s 7/7.
Wouldnt you have thourght that channel 5 would see that it dont pay not to have the red button. Channel 4 stopped it then re-launched again half through a series because viewing ratings had dropped.
I agree what is the point in watching a program which is about a way a group live together when put in the house. To watch 1 hour a week of live feed is a waste of the time of even doing the program, i wont be watching it.

I would and I know many viewers would love to have the love feed back whether it be via the red button or we pay for it on our computers. Please bring it back you will not be sorry people are prepared to pay for it just like we did when it started on the other channel. So glad it’s back thank you channel five for keeping mine and many other viewers favourite programme. Regards. Pat norton.
This will damage the show in the long run ,please bring back the live part of the show otherwise it’s just another pre recorded show. There’s nothing BIG BROTHER about it anymore the streaming needs to be 24/7 again.
Bring back the real Big Brother before the show dies.

Channel 5.. if it’s ratings the you have got to put a live feed back on. Alto the public have the final say in the eviction of house mates, I feel that its a false vote made on an hour viewing. My partner would have this on every waking moment we are at home. Also why aren’t all the house mates up for eviction every week left in the hands of the public. Rarely do I vote because I either don’t like both house mates or like both. 24/7 feed will give the viewer a chance to get to know the house mates and maximize voting, every one will have a love or hate housemate ..
I have just had an email regarding the live feed for big brother I agree with everything that has been said. I would have the live feed on 24/7 either via the red button or if I had to pay a nominal fee at the beginning of the show. Channel five announced at the beginning we would have an hour live after the evictions have been announced this ended up only being half an hour which by the way is 15 mins behind. Avid fans of big brother are in their thousands and there are many forums begging to bring back the live feed. Is anyone listening to us? We would love the opportunity to get to know the housemates properly not what you decide we must see. We are all aware that there would be loss of sound during the day for things like swearing and personal talk and that if there were any problems the live feed would be stopped for a bit, but why don’t you try it and see channel five I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised at how many people would watch. We are all so pleased that big brother has returned we would just appreciate if you listened and realised how many of us would love to have it back on live feed. I have watched big brother from the very beginning as have many other thousands of fans it would just be nice to know that those of us that support your channel are given this opportunity even if you just give it a trial. Thank you.
