More than 1000 people have turned up for the first Big Brother auditions of 2006 in Scotland. The crowd contained the usual mix of weird and wonderful people, this year there did seem to be a bit more of the weird though!

Many were in fancy dress with a dad of two – who only gave his name as JD – hoping to win a place by wearing a Dalek costume and Craig Nichol, 25, from Edinburgh, wearing a flashing tiara for this year’s first audition.

Executive producers Claire O’Donohue and Paul Osborne said they were delighted with the turnout.

“Anyone that stands out and impresses the producers in anyway will get through and does a one-minute diary room with Big Brother,” said Mr Osborne.
