After the poor viewing figures for Davina McCalls first show for the BBC ‘Hes Having A Baby’ I’m surprised they have asked her back. But Davina will be back on BBC1 next week when she starts her new celebrity chat show.

Her first guests will include Burnage actor Max Beesley, along with showbiz couple Tess Daly, from Stockport, and Bolton’s Vernon Kay.

The mother-of-two denies claims she signed a £1m deal for the series. She said: “I have no contract. I’m just doing eight shows – I can’t wait to get my teeth into it.

“I understand people will be gunning for me, and not everyone will like me. I’m doing all right, so I’m easy to knock.

“My grandmother tries to get me to do something more gritty than a chat show, but it’s important to entertain people.

“Tony Blair probably doesn’t want to watch Paxman or Andrew Marr. He’d prefer to kick off his shoes and see me.”
