Brave Gary Barlow to sing with Take That at Olympics

With the fantastic Olympic games coming to an end tomorrow, the same fabulous Team GB support circuit that welcomed the games to London last month, will be there to see it off, including grieving Gary Barlow!

Gary, who is literally the most patriotic and uplifting member of the human race at this precise moment, is joining his band mates, Take That, to perform at the closing ceremony, days after his fourth child, a little girl named Poppy, was delivered stillborn, eight and a half months into his wife, Dawn’s, pregnancy.

The X Factor judge, who has been the pinnacle organiser in such recent events as the Queen’s diamond jubilee celebrations, will take his place alongside band members, Robbie Williams, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, to mark their place in one of our countries proudest and successful moments in history.

A source told the Sun newspaper: “Gary is going through a terrible time. The last week has been awful — as everyone can understand.

“The band have been there for him and totally understand if he doesn’t do the gig, Take That are on the running order and the organisers are prepared for all eventualities, but they all know Gary will be determined to perform.

“They haven’t rehearsed this week for obvious reasons but they are professionals and can turn it on under pressure.

“It will be a tough call for Gary but everyone will back his decision.”

Take That are due to perform their smash hit, Greatest Day, on the stage, shared by several other big names in the music industry, in this spectacular event, organised by Barlow’s good friend, Kim Gavin, who  brought Take That’s Circus and Progress Live tours together.

Also due to perform are The Spice Girls, who will sing a mash-up of their hits, George Michael, who will sing Faith, as well as classic hits by the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Ray Davies from The Kinks and Liam Gallagher with Beady Eye.

Musical director David Arnold said: “If the opening ceremony was the wedding, this will be the wedding reception.”
