All the brightest stars of the music industry will be heading to London tonight, getting ready to be honoured at the annual Brit Awards.
The ceremony is being staged once again in the massive O2 Arena and the event will feature performances by acts such as One Direction, Emeli Sande, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and Robbie Williams.
There are usually some dramas every year and in 2013 bookies are predicting that the 1D boys will be at the centre of the storm, as they think that the time has come for the X Factor stars to end their winning streak. Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles have been nominated for Best British Band, but William Hill thinks they will lose out to Mumford and Sons.
“The betting suggest that One Direction will get mugged by Mumford and Sons, which would perhaps have been inconceivable just a couple of weeks ago!” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
Even Harry isn’t expecting to pick up a gong and he told Capital FM:
“We think Mumford [& Sons] are going to win it and I think deservedly so. They cleaned up at the Grammys so we think they deserve it, and we’re big fans of them as well so it would be great.
“I mean it would be amazing to win, but we think they’ll probably win it.”
Elsewhere, Adele is 1/3 win best single with ‘Skyfall’, despite being up against X Factor star James Arthur, ‘Troublemaker’ hitmaker Olly Murs and Labrinth but it is Emeli Sande that is expected to be the biggest winner on the night and she is 1/6 to win Best Album and 1/9 to be named Best Female!
Emeli is expected to close the ceremony tonight and Labrinth is backing her to win in all her categories.
Speaking to the Daily Star, the London-born artist said the Scottish singer deservesto be honoured.
“She’s worked really hard and made a great album – a very listenable album,” he said. “Emeli deserves everything she’s going to get. Hopefully she gets every single award she’s up for.”
