Britain Sings Christmas On ITV

This Christmas, ITV joins a host of celebrities to raise money for youth charity The Prince’s Trust by singing Britain’s favourite festive songs.

ITV1 has commissioned Endemol UK production arm Initial to produce Britain Sings Christmas - a unique celebration of music that defines the season of goodwill. Our Christmas classics have been selected by a YouGov poll and viewers will rank the top ten in order of preference, to be performed by a celebrity choir.

The songs performed by the choir will be broadcast on big screens in regions across Britain, where ITV will invite the public to join in and sing along, uniting the country in this seasonal celebration.

Presenter Kate Thornton will reveal the top ten songs in a special launch show on ITV1, and ask viewers to vote for their ultimate Christmas favourite.

Radio DJ Craig Doyle, actors Claire Goose and Jeremy Sheffield, TV presenter Gaby Roslin, comedian Jo Brand, pop stars Kelli Young of Liberty X, Liz McClarnon of Atomic Kitten and Blue’s Antony Costa, plus 80’s pop sensations Kim Wilde and Martin Fry have all volunteered their vocals as part of our twenty strong celebrity choir. For this exclusive performance the choir will also be backed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The second programme on ITV1 will show the choir forming to lead the UK wide sing-a-long of the ten Christmas anthems, with Kate Thornton running through a countdown of the songs voted from 10 to 1 before the winning song is finally revealed.

Led by top vocal coaches David and Carrie Grant, the choir will be backed by a thirty-five piece orchestra for the exclusive performance which will be broadcast on the big screens across Britain and on ITV1.

Britain Sings Christmas is a fully interactive entertainment event. As it unfolds, viewers will be able to pay to download the tracks of the celebrity choir’s performances from ITV’s brand new ‘Click-2-Buy’ facility on ITV.Com. All net profits from both the download and telephone voting will go directly to The Prince’s Trust, the charity that helps change young lives across the UK.
