Celebrity Big Brother 2012: Romeo talks about So Solid Crew ban

Romeo told his fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemates about the fall of his group So Solid Crew yesterday.

The 31 year old rapper shot to fame back in 2001, as one of the front men from the urban musical collective from South London, England, whose hits include “Oh No (Sentimental Things)” and “21 Seconds”.

The group were at the forefront of the music scene for a few years and even today, are still going strong, however Romeo admits that their fall from the limelight was mostly due to the fact that they were banned from touring in the UK.

He told the housemates:

We’ve never been on tour, we got banned straight away.

The album went platinum and we got the number one singles and stuff but we got banned from touring in the UK. Touring would have benefited us the most, because our performances were on point and that’s where the money is as well.

If you look at The Brit Awards and The Mobos and the performances we did ther, if we had toured we would have ripped it to pieces.

In 2001, a shooting in the crowd at Romeo’s 21st birthday party at the Astoria in London resulted in a virtual nationwide ban on live performance.
