Channel 4 Seeks Most Average Briton

Are you the average Brit? Channel 4 has launched a search to find the UK’s definitive Mr or Mrs Average for a new television documentary, due to broadcast this Autumn.

Using a variety of statistics from official and non-official sources, filmmaker Tim Wardle has devised a list of ten criteria that he believes will help identify Britain’s most statistically average person:

Are you average?

1. Do you know the words to God Save the Queen (first verse and chorus)?

2. Are you married with two children?

3. Do you own your own home, worth approx £190-210k?

4. Do you have more than 80 contacts on your mobile phone?

5. Do you work over 40 hours a week?

6. Do you own a Ford Fiesta?

7. Do you have 8-14 close friends?

8. Do you consider yourself working class?

9. Are you repaying debts or loans totalling more than £3,000 (excluding mortgage)?

10. Does your home contain one of the Harry Potter books?

11. Do you have three or more TVs in your house?

12. Do you go to the toilet six times a day?

13. Do you sleep approximately seven hours a night?

14. Do you think you’re a good driver?

15. Do you do less than 30 minutes sport/continuous exercise per week?

16. Do you know how to cook at least four meals, including spaghetti bolognaise?

17. Do you drink at least three cups of tea a day?

18. On average, do you take one foreign holiday a year?

19. Does your daily commute to work take 20-30 minutes (one-way)?

20. Do you believe in God?

If you answered ‘yes’ to 15 or more of these questions, you are in the running to be Britain’s most typical person and we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Kathryn or Claire on 0207 378 6106, or e-mail: average@centuryfilmsltd.com
