Chantelle Houghton and Alex Reid’s relationship was a love affair that seemed like a fairytale romance at first…

However, with just weeks to go before their baby daughter is due to be born, it’s all over for the couple, and friends of Chantelle’s are concerned about her wellbeing following the trauma of the break up.

She had apparently been sleeping on the floor of her flat since she walked out on Alex a few weeks ago, and until yesterday, all her furniture – including her bed – was still in Alex’s house.

However, she’s now moved everything out of his £600,000 home and friends were helping her to move it all back into her two bedroomed flat yesterday.

But it seems that not even those closest to Chantelle know why she and Alex – who both formerly starred in Celebrity Big Brother – split, however, they are worried about Chantelle’s wellbeing since it was reported she’s been experiencing an irregular heartbeat…

One pal told The People, “She is absolutely devastated. She is in a complete state. She moved back into her flat, where she feels safe.

“She won’t tell any of us what Alex has done There are some very worried people.

“She’s eight months pregnant and is holed up in a flat on her own without even a bed to sleep on.

“Whatever happened must be catastrophic because shed never have fled her home for no good reason.”

On Wednesday last week, Chantelle mysteriously tweeted, “Karma is a bitch and Im so glad it is cos people only find out how much of a bitch it is when its too late and theyve hurt u.”

The source added, “Her primary concern is her baby. So close to the birth Chantelle is doing everything she can to make sure her unborn daughter is OK.

“She felt getting away from Alex after his recent behaviour was the best way to make sure of this.

“Chantelle feels safe at the flat. She’s lived there happily for years and enjoys being there, even though it is unfurnished.

“There have been some problems in their relationship recently and now she has realised that enough’s enough.

“Her friends think there is no way back this time. Nobody thinks she will take him back now.

“She feels very let down by him. She is focusing on looking after herself.

“She was diagnosed with an abnormally high heart rate so needs to stay calm. This whole situation is a mess.”

The only hint as to what Alex has done came when he chatted via Twitter to 19 year old Amy Willerton, who won Katie Price’s reality TV show.

Of that, Chantelle said, “When I found out what Alex had done my heart sank. I felt sick. I had that sinking feeling.”

How very sad, they seemed such a good couple.
