Check out the pictures of Spice Girls, One Direction, Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Ed Sheeran at Olympic Closing Ceremony rehearsals!
The Olympics is ending today….a fact which actually makes us much more sad than we ever would have expected to be.
We have loved watching men in tight shorts jumping off diving boards and running around tracks for the last few weeks and the only thing that brightens up the end of this sport pervathon is the promise of a world class star studded concert tonight.
The lineup for the 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony has been kept a closely guarded secret and no confirmations have been made by officials, however we think that at this point we have a fair idea of who is going to take to the stage.
Tinie Tempah has been tweeting pictures of himself and some of his famous friends at what looks very much like rehearsals for the event and included in the snaps are Jessie J, One Direction and Ed Sheeran.
After arriving at the practice sessions, Ed tweeted:
‘Playing a small show today’
Before sharing his pictures, Tinie wrote:
‘If there was ever a time for me to get @Instagram THIS IS IT…. follow me at @Tiniegram RT’
One Direction’s official Twitter account also shared this photo with the caption:
‘One Direction rehearsing for the closing ceremony of the Olympics tonight:’
Victoria Beckham shared this picture of her on stage with The Spice Girls, saying:
‘OMG!!!! X vb’
The singer turned fashion designer is seen modelling a black Gucci mini dress at the event here.
Also expected to perform this evening are musical legends such as Kate Bush, Emeli Sandé, The Spice Girls, Ray Davies, Annie Lennox, George Michael, the Pet Shop Boys, Muse and the show will contain an hour-long section called Symphony of British Music, where the London Symphony Orchestra will be joined on stage by a number of great British musicians. Russell Brand will also make an appearance to perform a punk rock classic – rumoured to be the Sex Pistols’ tune Pretty Vacant – on top of a double decker bus.
George Michael tweeted last week: “Spending most of the next week rehearsing like crazy for the Olympic closing ceremony. Obviously a bit nervous not having played for nearly a year, but rehearsals sounding great so far!”
It has also been reported that Beady Eye – consisting of Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock – will sing ‘Wonderwall’, while the show will contain some comedic moments too, with Eric Idle expected to croon the Monty Python theme song “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”, while homage will be paid to BBC comedy ‘Only Fools And Horses’ as David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst reprise their roles of Del Boy and Rodney Trotter, and have their Reliant Robin van blown up, while they pretend to be superheroes Batman and Robin.
Director Kim Gavin has said the three hour extravaganza will be “an elegant mash-up of British music, a rich tapestry of British culture and life … something people remember for years to come.”
