We’re used to seeing the cast of EastEnders getting themselves into some colourful situations including breaking the law, a few scraped knuckles… you get the drift! This evening, in true style, they got themselves in another situation.
As part of the 2013 Children in Need celebrations, the cast of EastEnders learned how to dance! Yes, you read that correctly. From Bollywood and the Charleston to Broadway, you name it and they danced it.
Sharon (Letita Dean) kicked off proceedings in the Queen Vic dancing to Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ before moving on outside to the square with a Great Gatsby-inspired Charleston with some of the characters.
Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) moved things along in the park with a street dance whilst the Branning family including Joey (David Witts), Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald), Alice (Jasmyn Banks) and Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) took on Bollywood. Although, we wouldn’t say Joey is a natural at the whole Bollywood thing.
We even had some tap dancing and Alfie (Shane Richie) & Kat (Jessie Wallace) took centre stage with a romantic number. Elsewhere, Janine (Charlie Brooks) showed off her impressive Tango skills with Gary Lucy’s Danny Pennant.
It reminded us of one big mis-match carnival, slap bang in the middle of Albert square with people dressed in very little clothing as Winter is closing in… just like a night out, really? It makes a change from the usual drama, mind.
Following on from the dance, Charlie Brooks told Fearne Cotton: “We nearly took a fall at the end there but we did it
Gary Lucy added: “We did it three times with music, we just about got away with it. I’m thankful I didn’t drop her on her head!”.
Children in Need continues throughout the night on BBC One and BBC Two with lots more entertainment to come including the first televised performance from newly formed supergroup, McBusted!
