There have been many travesties in the world of reality TV, take the eviction of Maria Lawson from the X Factor while The Conway Sisters remained….awful!
But tonight almost matched that for unfairness. ‘Just The Two Of Us’ on BBC1 saw the public vote to keep celebrity duos Mark Moraghan and Natasha Hamilton, and Russell Watson and Sian Reeves in the show for tomorrow nights final while Chris Fountain and Jo O’Meara were sent home.
I just wonder….were the public watching the same show as me? Sian is not only mentally unstable, but she can’t hold a note! Russell may have a technically good voice but he is soul-less. His duet with Curtis Stigers tonight was in tune, but while Curtis sang with passion and emotion, Russell looked like a big cold fish. He rarely smiles, when he does it looks fake and all Sian does is witter relentlessly. Then if she doesn’t cry she always looks like she’s about to.
I just can’t bear watching them in the final, I think that at the start of the show Vernon Kay and Tess Daly should declare Mark and Natasha the winners, end the show early and the BBC could then resort to some old re runs of ‘Only Fools And Horses’ to fill the gap. It would be a whole lot more entertaining than watching ‘The Voice’ and ‘The Nervous Wreck’ for another night!

I’m afraid Russell and Sian proceeding to the final of Just The Two of Us isn’t so much about who should have gone through but Joe Public making it perfectly clear that they are quite capable of making up their own minds, and are not puppets with strings that the judges obviously believe can be pulled accordingly!!
For a judge to openly admit he ‘had it in’ for someone on the show beggars belief, and the disgusting comments that this couple have had to face night after night is a real cause for concern if fair judging is to be believed to be taking place.
If you are talking mental unstability look no further than Stewart Copeland… A JUDGE of singing ability?…DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH!! These couples should be applauded for putting themselves on the front line, but they have done this for CHARITY which seems to have been forgotton along the way apart from a certain young lady who reminded us the other night. And she is the one you call mentally unstable?? SHAME ON YOU!!
I totally agree with this, I was routing for Jo and Chris the whole way and I can’t believe Sian and Russell are still in the competition. I’m guessing the old grannies who listen to Russell’s music must be voting for him but its not fair when you’re supposed to be voting for the celebrity, not their singing partner! Sian is so awful I can’t even watch her and everyone I have spoken to thinks the same! I had tickets for the show on Thursday and was lucky enough to go backstage after the show and I thought everyone I met was lovely, Russell didnt even bother coming into the green room though so i didn’t meet him, and Sian acted like usual, loving herself and thinking she can actually sing but only stayed for about a minute which is good cos I think I would of hit her and got myself thrown out if she had stayed any longer!! I would rather Penny stayed in the competition! At lease she KNEW she couldn’t sing and laughed about it! Sian always seems geniunely surprised when the judges try and tell her that she’s terrible! The thing which annoys me the most though is that people who were trying to vote for Jo and Chris or Mark and Natasha last night were having problems getting through, I’m not saying it was done on purpose as a fix, although it does seem like it as I cant imagine why anyone would vote for Sian, but it hasn’t made it fair, as people’s votes havent been counted even though they have tried to vote. Anyway I think I have said enough now, but I think everyone will agree that Jo and Chris and Mark and Natasha were the true winners. xxx
I could not agree more. I couldn’t quite believe it when i found out the amount of people who couldn’t get through to vote and even got through but before the voice said ‘you have voted for blah and blah’ the phone line cut out! This was not just a problem with the land line in one area though, as i suspected. It appears to of happened to Chris/Jo supporters and Tash/Mark supporters all over the country!
I understand that Jo and Chris were a bit let down on their ‘Never Had A Dream Come True’ number, but they was still WAY better than Sian, i just do not understand how people can vote for her and think she has a good voice. Chris had such a hard song to sing and did his best and has also been consistent and amazing through the whole show. We are supposed to vote on the celeb not the professional singer!!
Even people that did not like Chris and Jo wanted them to go through to the final simply because it would be more entertaining to see the two ‘pop band’ girls fight it out. This is why i am so confused as to why Sian didn’t go. She honestly sounds like a cat being strangled, absolutely awful!
I am not trying to suggest anything but clearly something dodgey happened with the phone lines, and complaints have been made!
Angela, do you think they really did it for charity, or to raise their profile. I think you are being very generous towards them!
I agree entirely with most of the comments above that say that Sian and Russell shouldn’t have won. The whole competition was a joke!! Nobody would believe that Sian won because of her performances as both Mark and Natasha and Jo and Chris were far better every night. The judges seemed to change their opinion every day and the votes never seemed to match up to the actual performances. The bbc never say who got what votes so we only actually have their word that any of the votes were cast anyway. I had problems when I cast my votes for Chris which seem to go with what other people have said. I wouldnt waste my money again though as it all seems to have been a fix.

The competition turned out to be a complete joke when singers like Jocelyn Brown and Beverly Knight were voted off and Penny Smith was spared in their dismissal! Ridiculous!
I find it funny how even the presenters seemed embarrased to be giving the award away.
Sian and Russell didn’t deserve to be in the final. Should have been Chris and Jo & Mark and Natasha..!!

I tottaly agree with the above comments. The whole thing was a farce and blatently fixed as Sian can’t even sing a note and didn’t deserve to be in the final. I also had problems with the phonelines when trying to vote for Chris and Jo.
I don’t understand the scoring system - there were 3 points available from the judges, right? 2 went to Mark & Natasha, 1 to Sian & Russell. Then the public voted, but we were never told how their points were awarded. If it was the same - 2 to the first choice, 1 to the second - then it would have to be a draw even if Sian & Russell were the public’s first choice - wouldn’t it? Or am I being really thick here?
