Coleen’s Real Women: The Face Of Avon

Coleen McLoughlin

Coleen McLoughlin has been set the challenge of a lifetime…to find naturally beautiful women to be the face of eight major brands in her brand new series, Coleen’s Real Women.

In each episode, Coleen, the nation’s favourite girl next door, will scour the streets of Britain in search of real women to win eight high profile modelling assignments. These will be genuine jobs but with one major difference – all the women Coleen selects are amateurs, all professional models will be barred.

At the beginning of each show, Coleen will be given a brief from the brand. She then sets out on a scouting mission and holds open castings to find girls she thinks will not only fit the brief but could win the campaign over and above professional models.

To help her find these girls, Coleen enlists fashion industry expert Camilla Johnson-Hill to help her match the right girl to the right campaign.

So long as their look and personality fits the brief and the girls take a great picture they could be in the running to become the face of a major brand.

Once a shortlist has been pulled together, Coleen and her expert team will give the potentials a make-over, taking them from their everyday girl-on-the-street image into top models.

Each of the finalists will build up a portfolio under Coleen and Camilla’s watchful eye and then they will go off for their final casting at the brand HQ, where they face their competition for the first time, a roomful of experienced, professional industry models.

The clients reach a decision and announce who will front their campaign.

Will Coleen be successful in her quest to get ‘real women’ into advertising?

Episode two sees Coleen making a bid to find a real woman to be the cover star of cosmetics company, Avon.

The three real women hoping to win the campaign in this episode are Megan Pugh, 18, Laura Stuart-Cook, 21 and Siobhan Platt, 19.

Thursday 7 February 2008 9:00pm – 10:00pm on ITV2.

I used to like coleen but im not sure about this show because it just seems like its ‘Coleens modelling agency’ not coleens rel women becuse they arent rel women in the show!! the winner of the avon campaign was a size EIGHT and she was only 18 anyway! the winner of the first episode was also thin and young nd pretty so its not exactly real women cus i havent even seen a size 16 or a size 18 < now they are real women!
can i just say.. im a bit bored of the whole ‘I’m curvy and thats the way i am’ yeah yeah love we arent even bothered whether you are a size 6 or 16…. and anyway shes slim anyway and she is always changing her shape but she keeps sayin that shes not bothered how her body looks like… shes a bit fake if u ask me! ok thats the rant over thanks for listin haha x

I love the show! And through each show she is pushing the boundaries further by getting curvier women which is fantastic!! (I can’t stand the whole size zero thing personally.) The whole size thing whether big is beautiful or skinny is the way, has gone too far.
To be honest if your healthy it really shouldn’t matter. Some women/men are very large and this is v.unhealthy risking a lot of future problems but at the same time there are women who are far too skinny and damaging their health just as much i am sure aiming to be a size zero.
But let me say one thing, ‘real women’ are not always size 16/18. I find that quite offensive if I’m honest. I am size 10 and have always struggled to put on weight especially through my childhood, i got picked on a lot for being too skinny when i was young and it was an horrific time for me. I had no confidence what so ever. Even now Imo 21 and I would love to put on a bit of weight and gain a few curves but i simply can’t no matter what or how much i eat. This is the case for a lot of women out there and i don’t appreciate people turning their noses up at you and thinking oh its alright for you cos ur skinny or judging you assuming your one of those devoted to being skinny girls because thats what they think is ‘perfection’. Half the time this is not the case, we just naturally cant put on weight. Are we not real? Of corse we are, I’m sick of the bigger ladies pulling the sympathy vote because a lot of the time the smaller ladies are feeling insecure too if its about their curves or not. I mean i agree size zero is awful and scarily unhealthy. But size 10 is perfectly healthy. We should be promoting all sizes of corse but promoting a size ten cannot be a bad thing as its promoting health surely?
As for coleen she looks to me like she is never going to be a big big girl because naturally thats not her body. sure she puts on weight and loses it every now and again but i am sure she is just trying to be healthy to feel confident about herself, there is nothing wrong with that at all. saying she doesn’t care about her size doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about her health.

People went up in arms about the size zero being so unhealthy and now people want size 18 and onwards? surely this is unhealthy and a slight contradiction???

anyway to sum it up i think yes models shudnt be size zero or anything dangerously skinny like that but they shudnt nesasarily go as far as size 18 because this is just as unhealthy and no company should be promoting being unhealthy either way skinny or big.i love coleens women shes been showing, they look very healthy at the sizes they are hence most of their beautiful skin!!! I have nothing against bigger or skinnier women, i just dont think being unhealthy shud be something to promote!!
