Cops With Cameras On ITV1
ITV1 goes on patrol with police forces from across the country, following them in action on Britain’s streets tackling everyday crime as it happens.
Secret cameras are built into the police officer’s jackets in order to give a real sense of what it’s really like to be on the beat during dangerous drug raids, dramatic car chases and handling covert operations.
Featuring different police forces from around the country, Cop’s with Camera’s gives us an unprecedented view of the police’s continual fight against crime in the UK.
In Plymouth, a special unit led is being quickly mobilised in order to prepare for a raid on the home of a suspected drug dealer in the area.
Meanwhile, in the London borough of Southwark, a dedicated response unit has been set up to tackle thieves head on. Our cameras follow the team during a dramatic car chase that results in apprehending a disqualified driver in a stolen car who narrowly misses seriously injuring a mother and her young baby when he dangerously mounts the pavement in a desperate attempt to avoid the police.
In an area of South Wales, the force have to act quickly and a police helicopter is scrambled onto the scene to deal with an unfolding situation involving residents of a bed-sit that they suspect of being involved in organised crime.
In Berkshire the boys in blue act instinctively when they spot a wanted criminal while they are on the beat and back in Southwark two officers are called in to investigate a callous robbery on a terrified elderly woman.

February 27th? well that’s a shame, because ITV postponed “Cops with Cameras” for 2 weeks, I don’t know why, I was hoping to watch the show.
I never saw one police officer wearing a seat belt !!!

I was the suspected drug dealer in plymouth and i want to make a point the drugs that were found at my address had nothing to do with me i was asked to look after a bag and i did without asking or looking at what was inside and when it went to court the amount of money worth was £30.000 not £50.000 as i was said on tv the judge also accepted that i wasnt a dealer and thats why i only got 18 months in prison i came out after 5 months and im now getting on with my life….J.Davies

i was also suppose to be on this program too! i live in oldham, lancashire. i know the new series has started but i missed the first 2 episodes and i think we were on that 1, any1 no how i can get to see these 2 ive missed, by the way….they didnt get anything!! the police said it would be on in 6 weeks, that was about 6 months ago!

Erm yer sooz, i have a brain and like any media it will be edited for dramatic effect and interest, the newspapers, the news, jeramy kyle, judge judy etc etc…If anyone believes everything they watch on tv they are stupid so even though I enjoy these sorts of show I take it with a huge pinch of salt its for entertainment only!
I watched Cops with Cameras on ITV2 yesterday evening (02/12/2008).
When did police officers get exemption to wear seat belts. I think they should e subject the same rules as other drivers.
I hope that the respective senior officers of those forces shown have been made aware of the none wearing of seat belts and the offenders dealt with accordingly.
This might sound like sour grapes. It ain’t, I DON’T drive.

all this is not fair i was on cops on cameras for breach of asbo and i was mortified when i saw my self on the t.v its invading other peopls privacy. i was knocked out of bed at a ridiculous time of 2.35 am. all my charges got droped because of lack of evidence so the humilliated me on tv. kept me in a cell for 6 hrs then told me to go home. the poplice are sat wondering wat to do about crime i now have the answer…. dont piss us off

The police do have a lawful exemption to not wear seatbelts when carrying out police work. It’s best practice to wear their seatbelts, but not a legal requirement. There is also a lawful exemption for drivers of private hire cars when they have a passenger in the back to do the same.
If you are unhappy with the law then you could always write to your MP and see if there’s a chance to get your voice heard.
