Could You Hijack Channel Five?
In late 2008, Dawn Airey, big boss of Channel Five announced her intention to ensure that 1 million people watch her prime time shows, regularly.
Inspired by this, and determined to do better than your average TV producer, one man has launched a history-making mission to inspire the general public to join him and ‘Hijack Five’.
Mark Bowness, founder of thenerve.tv – the world’s first crowd sourced TV production company – is on a mission to find a member of the public with a life that is so interesting, that it will provide Dawn with her highest ratings ever.
All he needs to do is;
1) Find the compelling individual.
2) Find a production company to film it.
3) Rally public support to convince Dawn to hand over 1 hour of prime time airtime.
4) Find a show sponsor.
HijackFive is inspiring members of the public to upload a 60 second video to www.hijackfive.com. Mark Bowness is looking for anyone who may have an interesting life, a story to tell, a dream they want to pursue, a charity they want to promote, a company who may make edge of the seat TV viewing.
In the past 7 days HijackFive now has 21 videos being uploaded on to youtube, everything from shipwrecked stars to personality coaches, from unicyclists to hypnotherapists.
Mark Bowness states, “Many people think they have a ‘boring’ life which would not make great TV. This is untrue, look at the recent TV Show ‘The Family’ had excellent ratings. It is my belief that there is a member of the public who, being followed by the cameras for a week would gain an audience of one million and, I am going to prove it”.
