Eurovision Your Country Needs You 2010: Esma Akkilic….the only one who could sing
UPDATE: Ignore the rest of this article. We just listened to Esma’s attempt at singing the actual Eurovision entry ‘That Sounds Good To Me’ and she was really pretty bad!! She forgot her words, was pitchy and added nothing to the already awful song. None of these people deserve to sing in a karaoke bar, never mind represent the UK in an international singing competition!
After the abysmal performances so far, if the BBC had any sense they would just award the top spot to Esma Akkilic right now and not put us through a lengthy public vote. It makes sense since she’s the only who competed that could actually sing well.
Esma is the youngest competitor on the show and at just 17 years of age you would expect her to be quite weak on stage. However, unlike most of her fellow participants, she actually has a strong and tuneful voice and more stage presence than the other five acts combined.
She wouldn’t win the X Factor or anything, but compared to the rest of tonight’s singers she was world class.
Tonioli called her a ‘little diva in the making’ and offered to polish her diamond. I thought he was gay?
