Lembit Opik is supposed to be a politician, we know that most of you won’t be aware of that, given his flings with cheeky girls and his love of reality TV, but that is actually supposed to be his day job.

However, it seems he may have gotten fed up with his serious career, as after losing his seat in parliament for the constituency of Montgomeryshire back in 2010 and then losing the Liberal Democrats’ nomination as Mayor of London in the 2012 election, he has apparently turned his hand to starring in music videos.

The 46 year old – who has previously starred in Celebrity Juice, All Star Mr and Mrs, Loose Women, Bargain Hunt Famous Finds, Stand Up for the Week, Al Murray’s Happy Hour, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Come Dine With Me and I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! – has popped up in the world of popular culture again this week and is featured in a music video by the band The Good Suns (no we’d never heard of them either!)

We have to admit we did have a bit of a giggle at the clip below and let’s be honest, who doesn’t like mocking a politician but on a more serious note, Margaret Thatcher never would have behaved so badly! What is the world of politics coming to? Next thing we know, David Cameron will be on The X Factor!

Simon Cowell may be in hot water yet again, after The Gambling Commission decided to launch an investigation into his ITV gameshow Red Or Black.

It has been reported that the gambling watchdog is concerned that the series – which aired on ITV1 last summer – may have glamorized betting by making it look ‘easy’ to win.

The series ran for seven nights and on each episode, one lucky contestant had the chance to walk away with a whopping £1 million, all based on a game of roulette. In the end, the show made four millionaires in a week and questions have now been raised about whether the premise of the format, would encourage vulnerable people to turn to betting, in a bid to solve their money worries.

Sources have told The Sun that the commission met with ITV bosses this week and want assurances that there will be changes made to the show, if it returns for a second series, so that it looks harder and requires a certain level of skill from the eventual winners.

Although the regulatory body does not have the official powers to shut the show down, it has been reported that ITV would keen not to upset officials and a source said:

“Put it this way, if the Gambling Commission kicks up a big fuss about your show publicly, it is unlikely that you would go ahead with it.”

“The Commission has concerns the show is glamorising gambling as so many people won £1million last time and did the best part of nothing to get it.”

It’s not yet clear whether channel bosses will want to throw their weight behind a second run anyway, as Red Or Black came nowhere near the expected ratings when it debuted in 2011.

Katie Piper has revealed that she is starting to regain her sight, after receiving groundbreaking stem cell surgery.

The former model and TV star had her face burned and left eye badly injured during an acid attack in 2008, when her former partner Daniel Lynch arranged for Stefan Sylvestre to attack his ex-girlfriend.

She lost much of the sight in the eye for the following years but recently had an operation using eye tissue from the cornea of an anonymous male donor, which has been successful in it’s outcome.

Katie told The Mirror: “It has been an amazing feeling.

“It wasn’t like I took the bandage off and my sight came back like that, it happened gradually.

“But after three weeks I started to see results. I’d seen a lot of progress with my scars, but my sight was the one injury I’d say to myself was permanent and least expected to change.

Katie will star in ‘Katie: The Science of Seeing Again’, a documentary on Channel 4 which will follow her journey and also look at the ethical debate surrounding the use of cells extracted from human embryos.

Simon Cowell was reportedly furious with his Britain’s Got Talent staff at Cardiff on Sunday, after they messed up the audition of a singer.

After the talented warbler finished his original song the judges said he needed to find his own identity a bit more, saying that to them he sounded too much like the artist he was covering.

To Simon’s shock the performer retaliated by saying he didn’t want to sing the song and that his original choice was Bruno Mars.

When Simon asked why he changed his mind the singer said: “I got advised backstage not to sing it as ‘Simon is sick of Bruno Mars, he’s heard enough of it, you won’t get through with that”. Simon was not a happy bunny happy let me tell you and soon he was calling for the advisor to come to the stage to explain themselves as they shouldn’t be giving advice like that.

David Walliams was smirking throughout, but soon got his own comeuppance after angering a young boy by calling him a “ginger Justin Bieber”. The boy got to sing 3 different songs and got through on the 3rd by singing acapella.

Alice Barry has decided to get fully behind (see what we did there?) the Sports Relief cause this year, and instead of swimming the Thames, doing five million marathons or climbing a huge mountain somewhere in the world, the 66 year old Shameless actress decided to pose for a saucy picture instead.

The pensioner – best known as local busy body Lillian Tyler on the Channel 4 drama – has posed for a tongue in cheek (not literally) recreation of the “Tennis Girl” Athena poster and shows off her assets, cellulite and all!

Speaking about her decision to take part in he campaign, Alice said:

“What better reason to get my kit off than for Sport Relief. Move over Andy Murray, there’s a new tennis champ in town.”

Alice has previously starred as Peggy Hargreaves in Clocking Off, she also featured regularly in Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights and Bob & Rose, and has had minor roles in Linda Green and The Royal.

Samantha Barks has landed herself her first movie role it has been reported.

The stunning singer – who shot to fame on the BBC reality TV series I’d Do Anything – has reportedly been cast as Eponine in a Hollywood film version of the popular stage play Les Miserables.

She was reportedly informed of her amazing news by theatre boss Cameron Mackintosh, who made a special appearance during the curtain call of the Oliver! UK tour, in which Sam plays Nancy.

She later tweeted this as the ‘Most incredible moment of my life’.

Samantha will go on to star alongside Hollywood icons Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, and raved:

“I can’t believe I’m going to play Eponine, a role I played in the West End. It’s the happiest moment of my life.”

Last night Andrew Lloyd Webber issued a statement saying:

“I’m incredibly proud Samantha is enjoying such huge success after being an unknown when she appeared in I’d Do Anything almost four years ago. She’ll make the perfect Eponine. I wish her all the luck.”

Of course it won’t be the first time that Barks has taken on the role of Eponine in her career. She played the role in the London production of Les Misérables at the Queen’s Theatre from 21 June 2010 to 18 June 2011 and later reclaimed it for the 25th Anniversary Concert of the show at the O2 Arena on 3 October 2010.

Samantha performed one of Les Mis’ most famous songs ‘On My Own’ at the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium on the 9th December 2010.

E4 bosses are reportedly considering axing their brand new reality TV show Desperate Scousewives after only one season.

The ‘dramality’ TV show launched last November and centered around a group of socialites, footballers and models who all lived in Liverpool.

It was supposed to be the channel’s own version of ITV2′s The Only Way Is Essex and producers had hoped that it would be a huge ratings hit, however the reality was much more disappointing. The series opened with just over 500,000 viewers but the viewing figures steadily declined as the run continued.

Insiders say that executives are concerned that the public are not at all interested in their stars – such as Amanda Harrington, Gill O’Toole, Jodie Lundstram, Sam Wools, Layla Flaherty, Chloe Cummins, Elissa Corrigan, Jaiden Micheal, Debbie O’Toole, Joe McMahon, Danny Latimer – and have warmed to them enough to tune back in for a second series.

Instead, it has been reported that the team are considering concentrating on their other reality TV show ‘Made In Chelsea,’ the third season of which is expected later this year.

A show insider told the Daily Star:

‘We had hoped Desperate Scousewives would really give TOWIE a run for its money.

‘But sadly that’s not been the case. For whatever reason people have just not warmed to the characters and there hasn’t been a great buzz.

‘Made In Chelsea, on the other hand, is really popular. People seem fascinated by their posh lives.’

But the cast are not giving up the ghost just yet and this week Chris Johnson White tweeted out the picture below, trying to whip up support and build a social media campaign backing the show.

Chantelle Houghton is reportedly hurt and upset by persistent rumours that she and Alex Reid have split up.

The former Celebrity Big Brother winner is currently pregnant to the burly cage fighter and the pair are engaged to be married, after he proposed on Irish TV last year. However, there has been a lot of talk and rumours, suggesting that they have now cancelled their wedding plans, after months of arguing.

A friend told new! magazine, that Chantelle has been ‘very upset’ by the claims and explained:

“She is very upset by all the rumours and doesn’t need the stress right now.

“Like any normal couple, they have the odd spat, but the wedding is far from off.”

Sources close to the blonde beauty are now worried that the stress of the situation could affect Chantelle’s pregnancy and added:

“She is anxious enough that everything is going to be OK with the baby, so suggestions that she and Alex are having problems have really got to her.”

The rumours started after Chantelle was photographed earlier this month, not wearing her engagement ring. She tried to set the record straight on Twitter and explained that she sometimes doesn’t wear the ring, because it is too expensive.

She tweeted: “I don’t wear my engagement ring everyday it cost so much money, I get scared of being mugged.

Always the knight in shining armour, Alex also waded into the argument and defended his relationship writing on Twitter:

“The power of journalism is very dangerous.

“Totally understand being in public eye puts us in firing line and people who wrote story feel it’s Their right to tell the truth whilst making them money & more popular, but these recent stories r not true &r damaging 2a happy couple. Heyho [sic].”

Does anyone else feel that Alex is being a little hypocritical in hitting out at the press as he is, considering that he has made his fortune from staged relationships, photo opportunities and tell all magazine interviews over the past number of years?

Love in the Wild, hosted by Darren McMullen, consists of 10 single men and 10 single women taking part in a romantic adventure in Costa Rica. In each episode, the couples pair up in quests that push their bodies and emotions to the limit. Some of these include paddling down crocodile-ridden waters, navigating through bat-infested caves and hanging 200 feet above the rain forest floor as they descend down one of the most majestic waterfalls in Costa Rica. After each adventure, the winning couple share a night together at a lavish five-star bungalow. The remaining couples stay with their partners in the less-luxurious cabins for a night of socialising.

One male and one female are eliminated at the end of each episode. During the elimination process, the couples come together to reveal whether a connection has been formed with their current partner, or if they would like to switch and get to know someone else. The series culminates with one couple left standing who win the immense prize of a trip together around the world.

The Biggest Loser US returns to NBC tonight and the episode will see the return of a few familiar faces.

Brother and sister team Daphne and Adrian Dortch were originally sent home from the show in week one and failed to win themselves a place on the ranch. However the siblings were told that they may be able to change their fate, if they could lose fifty pounds between them during their month at home.

Trainer Dolvett Quince has been working with the pair over the past four weeks and this evening, Adrian, a 34-year-old music producer and Daphne, a 37-year-old paralegal will find out if all the effort has been worth it as they discover their fate.

“This is my chance to change. It will show that you never give up.”
