FHM Sexiest Woman In The World: Mila Kunis wins, Tulisa drops out, Kelly Brook, Helen Flanagan, Taylor Swift, Cheryl Cole in top 10
FHM today announces Mila Kunis as the winner of its FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll, in association with VO5 Extreme Style.
The American actress, star of hit movies Ted, Black Swan and Friends With Benefits has been awarded the coveted trophy for the first time ever, beating off stiff competition from Rihanna, who takes second place, up one on last year.
Not only is she now officially the Sexiest Woman in the World but Mila, 29, who is currently dating fellow actor Ashton Kutcher, has no less than five major movies hitting cinema screens this year.
Commenting on her triumph, FHM 100 Sexiest Editor Dan Jude, said: “Mila Kunis has had a phenomenal year – she’s starred in the highest grossing comedy (Ted) and is the most in-demand Hollywood star right now. Not only is she naturally stunning, but she has a great sense of humour and isn’t afraid to poke fun at herself. The nation has spoken, and the verdict is that she is officially the perfect girlfriend. She’ll take some beating in 2014.”
Mila’s victory brings to an end a four-year run of British winners.
In 2010 Cheryl Cole made history by becoming the first British woman to take the title for two consecutive years. Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley got the nod in 2011 and last year saw X-Factor judge Tulisa (this year 11th) become one of the most hotly-debated winners ever. The only other Brits to win title during the poll’s 19-year history are actress Keira Knightley in 2006 and model Kelly Brook in 2005.
Whilst there’s an international winner, there are more UK entrants than ever before, with the number of home-grown hotties passing the 50% mark for the first time. This year 53 of the 100 entrants are from the UK, up from 46 last year.
In third place Helen Flanagan is officially the Sexiest Woman in Britain. The ex-Coronation Street actress and I’m A Celebrity star has battled public backlash and Twitter trolls to silence her critics and edge out her former Corrie co-star Michelle Keegan (fourth) to the crown.
Helen commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be voted the Sexiest Woman In the UK. It’s a lovely confidence boost, especially when there are so many beautiful girls out there. Rosie Webster would definitely be impressed!”
Despite falling to number 20 last year Kelly Brook sees a triumphant return to this year’s top five, for the first time in seven years. The Celebrity Juice panellist, who earlier this year reunited with her rugby-playing-ex Danny Cipriani, has appeared in more FHM 100 Sexiest lists than anybody else, popping up an incredible 15 times since 1995.
Kaley Cuoco, star of E4’s hit comedy The Big Bang Theory, has developed a cult following thanks to her portrayal of blonde bombshell Penny. She’s soared 50 places up the rankings and is one of the year’s highest risers in sixth spot.
Pop princess Pixie Lott rises for a fourth consecutive year; she’s up five places to number seven, while US modelling phenomenon Kate Upton makes her top ten debut at number eight.
Hot on the heels of the recent Girls Aloud split there’s more bad news for Cheryl Cole. The planet’s sexiest Geordie and two-time winner falls to number nine, dropping a further seven places while narrowly clinging on to her top ten spot.
Rounding off this year’s top ten is Irish model and FHM cover girl Georgia Salpa, who falls from number five last year.
It’s been a bumper year for Team GB and the highest Olympian entry on the countdown is none other than lycra-clad lovely Victoria Pendleton. At 39, she races straight into the top 40, taking the crown of the Sexiest Girl in Sport. She’s closely followed by fellow cyclist Laura Trott, at 42. Gold-medallist Jessica Ennis also gets a nod this year; the perfectly-honed heptathlete is a new entry at 47.
2013 has seen a sharp rise in the number of over-30s making the countdown with 27% aged 30 or above, a huge leap from 19% last year. Notable entries include Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara, 40, at number 100, BBC Breakfast newsreader Susanna Reid, 42, at number 96, Xtra Factor presenter Caroline Flack, 33 at 70 and Splash!’s very own bikini babe Linda Barker, 51, at number 93.
UK pop sensation Rita Ora is the UK’s biggest riser, moving up 79 places and straight in to the top twenty at number 15. The biggest overall climber is US pop-star and Harry Styles’ former beau Taylor Swift, who rises a massive 87 places to number 12. Elsewhere in the world of music Mollie King proves she’s officially the hottest member of The Saturdays at 18, ahead of bandmate Frankie Sandford at 37.
Actresses are officially the sexiest profession, with a 40% share in this year’s poll. With two huge hit movies – The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook – plus a Best Actress Oscar under her belt – Jennifer Lawrence’s star is certainly rising. It’s no surprise to see her leap 54 places straight into this year’s top 20 (number 20).
She may have lost her ice-skater boyfriend to his Dancing On Ice partner Samia Ghadie but Jennifer Metcalfe has the last laugh; the TV actress ranks at 25 this year, while Samia is nowhere to be seen. Elsewhere, Jennifer’s Hollyoaks co-stars have made strong showings – Jorgie Porter rises from 86 to number 13, and Gemma Merna is a re-entry at number 86.
It’s been a bad year for The Only Way Is Essex – not a single member of the cast has made this year’s top 100. Not so for Made In Chelsea; the show has two representatives this year. Professor Green’s bride-to-be Millie Mackintosh at 26 (down from 15 last year), as well as new entry Louise Thompson, who debuts this year at 73 to coincide with her sizzling shoot for FHM’s June issue.
Holly Willoughby has yet again trounced best friend Fearne Cotton. This Morning host and Celebrity Juice team captain Holly rises one place to 23 while Fearne, who gave birth to son Rex in February this year, slides 35 places to 77.
This year’s drop-outs include The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, whose sister Pippa holds strong at number 58. Also out-of-favour is Abbey Clancy who last year ranked at number 69. Her model cousin Chloe Cummings fared slightly better, edging in at 98. Paris Hilton failed to generate enough votes to register, as did bride-to-be Angelina Jolie. Former FHM favourite Adriana Lima is another notable absentee.
Jennifer Aniston dropped out of 2011’s list for the first time since 1996 before re-entering last year at 79. This year sees her jump a huge 45 places to number 34.
Each 100 Sexiest poll uncovers some more unusual celebrity crushes and this year is no exception. Daybreak host Lorraine Kelly notched up a few votes this year along with red-headed royal Princess Beatrice. Property expert Kirstie Allsopp narrowly missed out on this year’s list, as did Question of Sport presenter Sue Barker.
Now in its 19th year, FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll is the original and biggest search for the sexiest women in the world. This year thousands voted from the UK and around the world.
FHM’s 100 Sexiest supplement, featuring the hottest women in the world, comes free with the June edition of FHM magazine, on sale now (Thursday, 2 May).
