FORTUNE MILLION POUND GIVEAWAY: Dylan The Exceptional Boy

Was anyone else crying tonight when the 14 year old Dylan appeared on the show tonight with his mum?

Dylan is an exceptionally bright and intelligent boy, who obtained GCSE’s at the age of 6! Dylan also wrote a 72,000 word novel at the age of 13.

Dylan was badly bullied in school and ended up being home tutored by his mother. His mum now feels as if she is out of her depth and Dylan has ended up mostly teaching himself.

Dylan requested £38,000 so that he could attend a private college for four years at which point he wants to attend university.

Jeffrey Archer was quick to say yes to Dylan, as was Jacqueline Gold. Simon Jordan took a bit of persuading, but finally agreed to give the money to Dylan.

Both Dylan and his mum were moved to tears and could barely talk to Richard when he came out. A really nice, personal story. I have really enjoyed the show tonight.

This show was heart warming tonight Tabbykat.

It is true what the boy’s mum said about intelligent children, the state system is restrictive of progress and the peer group one is raised and educated with will bully those who seem beyond them. Sad that jealously can do this. There were times when I was bullied, prodded and cornered to do things such others homework, or maybe impromtu performances and the drawing of maps.

Almost every genius has had bullying to contend with when young and in times past it was considered normal part of the process of survival and toughening oneself up for the real world. Sometimes those people who are extremely clever though are also blinkered to the ways of the world, sometimes dropping out.

I hope this young boy does something useful with the education and training the money will give him, he appears in the environment so maybe an enviromental scientist or similar occupation would suit him. The sort of job where he is his own boss and can delieanate for the benefit of society the results of any commissioned research projects he becomes involved with.

By contrast a young man of 24 or 26, came on from a low income background asking for 2.5k to do a fork lifting course, this was an equally heart warming result that he received the award of the money. But sad that the government seem to have given up on people in this age group. This young man would not have managed to raise the funds on his cleaners wages and I would have thought the Department for Work, would have had a grant scheme available to cover such small amounts.

The highlight of this show was Stephens plea for 45k for a Church community drop in centre modernisation programme, in an urban working class community. Stephen himself had been in prison for various offences and had over several years turned himself round to walk the straight and narrow. He was a voluntary worker with the organisation in question who charitably support youth projects and community incentives in areas of depravation. Needless to say as so much was said the end result was pleasingly positive.

Three no - no’s came from a WANABE Hollywood dreaming actress looking for 50k to support training in America, a fire eating wanabe flaming toilet diver short of 20k or so, and a juggler who wanted 50k to go round schools to talk about and teach balance co-ordination etc. The latter three appeared to be short of a few important brain cells essential to the power of thinking and planning coherently.

    A good programme.

REALLY,THATS NICE OF YOU,PEOPLE ARE VERY QUICK TO JUDGE AREN,T THEY .I WISH THEY,D DO IT KNOWING ALL THE DETAILS,BUT I GUESS TV CAN BE VERY DECIEVING.I TAKE IT I WAS ONE OF THE 3?

AS I,VE SAID BEFORE ON HERE ,THERE WERE MANY PEOPLE THERE ,THAT DESERVED THE MONEY FAR MORE, THAT 14 YR OLD BOY WAS EXCEPTIONAL, I PERSONALLY WISH HIM ALL THE BEST IN THE WORLD,FROM SOMEONE THAT WAS THERE, HE WAS A GREAT PERSON

Well Jan its good you can speak out for yourself. The latter three in which I take it- you were the girl with the dog really needed to have thought this out properly before applying. Even for a minor grant of say a thousand pounds in Britain today, through an educational or arts body would require a draft business plan with maybe a breakdown about what the money was for. Living costs would not be included, believe you me that never is, you have to find that yourself. I am a classical singer of 37 years standing and have done my fair share being a thespian and avid supporter of regional and local theatre.

In Hollywood many young girls are attracted to going for fame and fortune, but they haven’t thought it out. They end up waitressing at the best end of it or being a skivvy in a cheap rate motel and the worst end of it prostituting themselves. Please forgive me if you feel this to be a negative post, but I mean it in the best possible way.

I gather you were hurt by some of the comments made to you, that would have been a shock grant it. Even though I believe you when you defended yourself against the commentary made about your skills, only because I don’t feel that this programme will allow anyone to showcase there skills. I don’t think I’ve seen Television yet that can do that for one individual over another.

Reality TV is deceiving but you have to be equally realistic for what you can expect from it. So Jan had you spoken with your local arts body to find out what they could offer you? I’d hazard not… a five minute call and attending one networking event isn’t enough. What about a cultural arts body for drama in the community, thought about joining a local theatre to get some work? The later here is the most logical course of action after the drama course you said you’d done.

Tried any current vacancies in the arts…

But Jan and again I mean this in the best possible way,
you need to sit down and think of what you really want to do.

You need to remove the rose tinted lenses… and if you are to succeed with a career in drama or film you must have a plan.

You must check out what your region offers first, as if you can’t find your footing there how will you find it outside of your region or even in another country?

    Hello Jan,

Oh golly I’m sorry, it feels good to be human. To recognise just when you might have overstepped a line. Thank you.

I can’t for the life of me remember the eighth person, but on reflection you were the seventh . My earlier post refers to only six claims on the programme.

Still I’d like to suggest maybe that you should start covering at least your costs with the concerns you give yourself voluntarily to. I know that some of the materials you use do not come cheap.

Also some of the bodies listed earlier could well help you, I know it sounds mad but there are people who are making a living from doing less than you. The face painters for childrens parties etc normally in conjunction with someone who provides music and party games.

A website wouldn’t come in wrong for people to take a look at a portfolio of your work online.

Another mad thought ‘Wallace and Grommit and animations’, a local college near you may be running a course on animation work in film, this could be another avenue worth looking up.

If I can help in anyway you can email through the main site.

    Goodluck

What was her name, the one who wanted to be an actress? She looked like a footballers wife to me, with the hair extensions and little dog. I wish the best to her, but I think asking for 50k was a little much, as she did mention she also wanted to buy new clothes etc with it as well as the drama school!
