After reports that she had been axed from Geordie Shore, followed by the announcement that her younger cousin, Marnie Simpson, had been cast – Sophie Kasaei has insisted that the two incidents are unrelated – She hasn’t been replaced by anyone and WILL be in the next series.
As we previously reported, Kasaei (who incidentally is one of the nicest people we have ever had the privileged to interview by the way) was supposedly sacked by the hit MTV reality show after making a racial slur on a drunken night out.
According to The Sun the reality star, who can currently be seen in the sixth series of the show in Australia on Tuesday night’s, was caught using the uber-offensive N-word whilst filming for the show.
A source close to the show apparently revealed to the publication:
“Apparently Sophie was caught using the n-word. The show bosses were made aware of what she is alleged to have said and they kicked her off the programme. She is devastated.”
Meanwhile MTV seemed to support this theory, with a spokesperson reportedly commenting to the paper:
“After an incident last week, Sophie Kasaei was removed from Geordie Shore pending further investigation into alleged offensive behaviour. MTV and Lime Pictures have now taken the decision that it is inappropriate for Sophie to return to the show.
“We will be reiterating to the remaining cast members that offensive behaviour will not be tolerated.”
And a rep for Sophie told EntertainmentWise: “Sophie is absolutely devastated and sorry for any offence that has been caused by her drunken language. Sophie is against racism in any form being of mixed race herself and having experienced racial abuse as a child.“
Then there came the news that Sophie’s younger cousin, Marnie Simpson, had been cast in the new series which started a buzz in the rumour mill that she was Sophie’s replacement!
Sophie, who remains one of the most grounded and pleasant members of cast, has already come out to deny the rumours, declaring them completely false, taking to video sharing app Keek last month, saying that people shouldn’t believe everything they read in the papers and that she would most definitely be returning with the rest of the Geordie crew for series 7, which is currently being filmed.
The video has since been removed from the site, but in wake of the new rumours regarding her cousin, Sophie has taken to social networking site, Twitter, to send the following message to fans:
“Just to let you know I am in Series 7.
“It’s already been filmed.
“Also I am not being replaced by my cousin.
“I will be back on Twitter soon to answer anyone’s questions.
“Have a good day everyone x”
Yay – we can’t tell you how happy we are to hear this – Geordie Shore simply wouldn’t be the same without her!!!!
Geordie Shore, series 6, can be seen Tuesdays at 10pm on MTV, with the 7th series due to kick off next month on Tuesday 17th of September at 10pm.
