Girls Aloud snub Glastonbury for Cheryl Cole’s 30th & Nadine Coyle sorts her accent!
Girls Aloud have confirmed that they will not be playing the Glastonbury Festival this summer, because they would rather spend that weekend celebrating Cheryl Cole’s 30th birthday!
The girl group recently reformed after a three year hiatus and after releasing their greates hits compilation in late 2012, last week they kicked of their ‘Ten: The Hits’ reunion tour which will take them around the arenas of Britain for the best part of a month.
It had been reported that the ‘Sound Of The Underground’ hitmakers would be taking to the stage at the iconic festival in June, to celebrate their comeback, but there will be no wellies and tents for them this summer as the girls will be marking Chez’s landmark birthday instead.
“We could be available for Glastonbury but my birthday is on the Sunday and as I’m turning 30 I want to have a big one”, the former X Factor judge told the Daily Star. “I want to party hard”.
Nicola Roberts is party planning for the group and admitted that if she has her way, the effects of the bash will be felt for a long time afterwards.
“I’ll plan it. Maybe we should celebrate over a few days”, Nicola said.
Girls Aloud started their UK tour in Cheryl’s hometown of Newcastle last week and received rave reviews from fans and critics alike, after they belted out some of their best known hits, while wearing some barely there costumes.
The time up north helped band member Nadine Coyle work on adjusting her broad – and frequently mocked – Derry accent and she revealed on Twitter that she’s been working on her Geordie one instead.
She tweeted:
“After all those days in Newcastle I can through a good shape at the accent now! Xx yessss! 10yrs later. Xx”
Meanwhile, Kimberley Walsh seems to be loving being back with her girls, which is good because insiders have suggested she was the one that masterminded the reunion. Her Twitter timeline was full of elated tweets last week, the most recent one being:
“Newcastle you have been amazing thanks for an amazing few nights. Now Yorkshire bound! Are you ready for us Sheffield??!!!! #tentour”
Sarah Harding added:
“Nite nite Newcastle and again, thanks for a great evening.U geordies sure r very (a)loud haha!Thnx for all the support.Next stop sheffield!”
