Got To Dance judge Adam Garcia has insisted that he is straight.
The Australian actor and tap dancer says that many men think he is gay because of his theatre success and he likes to wind those people up by trying to woo their girlfriends.
Adam told The Sun:
“When people ask if I’m gay, I say, ‘Oh, I don’t know.’ My favourite thing to do is to wind those guys up by hitting on their girlfriends. I say, ‘I think your girlfriend’s gorgeous, but it’s all right, I’m gay.’ They get very nervous after a few minutes!
“I don’t care if people think I’m gay. I know I’m not, so it doesn’t bother me.”
Garcia also admitted that he lists after some of the girls who audition for his Sky 1 dance show. He added:
“I fancied some of the girls.
“We had a lot of pole dancers – generally they are not wearing much and doing something relatively provocative.
“There are some really great all-girl dance groups – especially one called Cabaret Rouge who were very sexy.”
“It does influence me when I fancy the dancers, but more in a negative effect.
“If they’re just OK dancers and I put them through to the next stage, it’s going to look like I liked their bodies.
“So if they are not outstanding, then it actually goes against them.
“Otherwise it looks like I’m a chauvinist pig, and I’m trying NOT to look like one!”
In a sly dig at The X Factor, Garcia said that he, Kimberley Wyatt and Ashley Banjo don’t play any games with their hopefuls. He explained:
“We don’t have to play any characters.
“We don’t have any ulterior motives of who we want to win – and we don’t have any teams we are trying to pit against each other.
“We are all in it for a single purpose – to find the best dance act in Britain.”
Got To Dance launches on Sky1 on Sunday, January 2 at 6pm.
