“Brian Friedman told me that I wasn’t sexy enough so I just need to believe I am”
The Story So Far…
* At Michelle’s first audition all the panellists gave her positive feedback David Gest said that she ‘lit up the stage’ and Brian said she had good technique.
* On the second day of Bootcamp, David Ian declared: ‘I love her’ and said that she is the best Sandy he’s seen so far. Brian says it was the best routine so far.
* On the final day of Bootcamp Sinitta said she managed to mix sweet Sandy with sexy Sandy well.
History
* Michelle was born in Plymouth and raised in Gosport, Hampshire.
* She is currently studying musical theatre at Mountview.
* She says that ‘fate’ brought her into to the show as she nearly didn’t come to the audition. She only found out about it the day before, and didn’t think she could make it. She then rushed down after missing her appointment and got a audition slot- ‘the rest is history’ she says
* Michelle’s proudest moment was when her brother returned home from Iraq, where he was serving as a soldier.
What’s your best and worst job been?
I have been teaching at a theatre school in Essex, mainly ballet and tap.
My best job was working in the Body Shop – it was such a lovely company to work for and my worst job was working in a bank because it just wasn’t me.
Have you had any theatrical training?
I’ve been training at Mount View Academy of Theatre Arts. I’ve done a lot of Panto. I was also in a three part harmony group called C1D – it was like a cabaret act!
What does it mean to you to play Sandy?
It would mean the world to me. I can’t believe I’ve got this opportunity. Since I was little I’ve always wanted to be in the West End. I’ve always wanted to play a role of someone that is similar to me and I think that I have a lot of Sandy qualities in me.
How do you think you would handle fame?
If I won I’d buy my Mum a new cooker because hers is broken and she can’t afford a new one. I’d take my family out to their favourite restaurant. I would also go to New York with my boyfriend to see some Broadway Shows.
Who are your idols? Anyone you respect on the stage?
I really respect Sutton Foster – I’d like to be just like her.
I also love Julie Andrews and Audrey Hepburn. I grew up watching her films. Reese Witherspoon is another idol of fine.
What do you think of the judges?
They haven’t discouraged me at all. I’ve had nothing but nice comments. They are honest and I like the way David Ian is always straight to the point. The last thing Brian said before going to the final was that I wasn’t sexy enough so I just need to believe I am. I don’t feel that I’ve had an opportunity yet to be sexy.
