How desperately sad – Justin Bieber tweets over death of six year old Avalanna Routh “One of the greatest spirits I’ve ever known has gone”

There’s awfully sad news to impart today as we learn that six year old cancer victim Avalanna Routh has died, having lost her battle with the disease.

Teen singing sensation Justin Bieber tweeted about the sad news, posting the above picture with the simple message, “My angel…”

Avalanna passed away on Wednesday morning, and when he heard the news from her parents, Justin told his followers on the social networking site, “Just got the worst news ever. One of the greatest spirits I have ever known is gone.

“Please pray for her family and for her. RIP Avalanna. I love you.”

The Sun adds, “Tragic Avalanna – who had nicknamed herself ‘Mrs. Bieber’ – had been suffering from a rare and deadly atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor…

“The disease develops in childhood and has survival rates as low as 10 per cent in children under three.”

Justin first met Avalanna in February on St Valentine’s Day, when he flew to New York especially to see her and her mother.

He first found out about the Avalanna via a social media campaign called ‘Get Avalanna to Meet Justin Bieber.’

After the meeting, during which Justin formed an instant bond with the brave little girl, Justin remarked that he had been “left in awe” of Avalanna after spending a couple of hours with her.

Of meeting her, Justin tweeted, “that was one of the best things i have ever done. she was AWESOME! feeling really inspired now #MrsBieber.”

Justin visited Avalanna several more times before she died. Another tweet from Justin, after hearing that she’d passed away, read, “make the most of everyday.”

How awfully sad. Tends to put petty problems into perspective doesn’t it?
