Jamie Afro: X Factor was demoralising

Jamie Archer has admitted that he occasionally felt “demoralised” whilst taking part in The X Factor.
Jamie was voted off the show last night after singing for survival against 16 year old Lloyd Daniels. He told the Press Association that constant battles over his song choices made him realise that his “journey had come to an end”.
He said: “It was really demoralising for me, because it made me feel like ‘Is it me? Am I being difficult? No-one knows what to do with me – maybe there just aren’t any songs?’ but I just got on with it really.”
Jamie denied claims that he planned to quit the show saying:
“I didn’t say I was leaving, I just said ‘Maybe it’s the wrong show for me’. It was after we did Unchained Melody and we tried it, and I had to change my song last minute.
“I said at this point ‘Maybe this show isn’t really the right show for me because we keep having to change my song, which means we quite clearly don’t know what to do with me’.”

it was unbeliveable to see, Jamie one of the best singers to go . lloyd needs to go out not Jamie. Lloyd doesn’t even know how to sing, his performance was weak. it was awful. I knew that Louis Walsh did not like Jamie and it was evident that he was going to get rid off Jamie. If Jamie ever brings a single out , i would definitely buy it. He was the best singer in the competion. Loved his voice.. he was Fantastic and sings better than professional singers.
yes,I agree totaly with you Jamie. It’s not common someone like you on this kind of show. You are very brave to try this option. I understand you, you see you working year after year on music and nothing happens and a lot of estereotipes on a Tv show going on… But in fact, they don’t know what to do with you. Well, the good thing is that now you have a bigger public than before. Keep going…we love you.
The beauty about the X factor is that it has marketed you in a way you could never afford.
It is formula television and the package is likely to suit more standard stereotypical voices.
Having said that, there is nothing wrong with being given a basic package and expecting the artist to come up with the goods on it.
I’m afraid its a principal of you having to do the crap and come up good. Same goes for those actors and actresses who argue they have guff parts to play, they still have to come up good. A true artist is able to come up good in adverse conditions.
The only people who would struggle with this type of package is the real classically trained voice and the long time served musical theatre voice as not everything would be considered suitable or safe for such voices to do.
A rock voice is known more for its style than versatality or beauty of tone. Stage antics and personality also says a lot. Last year a well known rock singer admitted on radio, when asked the question:- Would you have done the X factor? “What me sing, you kidding . I can’t sing. I wouldn’t get past the auditions.”
So if your reading this Jamie, take heart that all of Britain has now heard of you whereas before we didn’t know you from Adam. Also age is a big issue for all of us and your career should now take a step up in the right direction for you.
