Jamie Oliver: Jamies Chef Episode Two
Jamie Oliver is giving one of the young chefs from Fifteen the chance to run their own restaurant. He’s already chosen the best graduates to undergo a crash course in the skills they need to succeed. But while John has already pulled out of the contest, the others have had a chance to impress.
Ex-joyrider Dennis was a revelation running the kitchen at the busy Great Eastern restaurant; Taz, who arrived in the UK from Thailand with nothing in her teens, excelled at managing front of house; and Aaron, who wants a better life for his partner and their two young daughters, wowed guests with his food and imagination at Jamie’s birthday party. But now it’s time to get serious as each contender must now convince Jamie and the charity trustees, who are funding the restaurant, that they have the passion, ability and vision to make the quarter-million pound business a success.
But when Taz visits the rural Essex pub which she plans to convert into a Thai restaurant, she discovers that many locals don’t like spicy food. Aaron is wary of running a pub, however much his partner and kids would love life in the countryside. Meanwhile, Dennis is as cocky as ever, but can he convince Jamie and the trustees that he’s mature enough to head up his own business? The programme ends with the selection of the winner, but for them it’s just the beginning of the challenge as the next two films follow their attempts to transform the run-down rural boozer into a successful upmarket gastropub.
