Justin Bieber 2013: Was singer fined £300,000 for turning up ‘two hours’ late for show?
He caused a furore this week when he started his performance at London’s O2 Arena late.
And it seems things may have gone from bad to worse for Justin Bieber, 19.
Rumours are circulating the star has been issued a hefty fine for starting his show an apparent two hours late on Monday night.
Justin opened a string of gigs in London on Monday night but left fans angry after taking to the stage late following his three support acts Jaden Smith, Carly Rae Jepsen and Cody Simpson late.
The star is said to have stepped out on stage two hours late after many of his adoring fans were forced to leave early to ensure they were able to get home on time and some younger fans were even carried out of the arena asleep on their parent’s shoulders.
But Justin insists he was just 40 minutes late due to technical issues which were beyond his control.
However it seems, whatever the reason, the singer’s bank balance may have taken a hit as he is rumoured to have been issued a £300,000 fine for overrunning the curfew for evening performances at the O2 Arena.
But Justin fans need not worry – any news he is to shell out cash for turning up on stage late is not true.
Officials from Greenwich Council said in a statement: “Contrary to the report, The Royal Borough of Greenwich has not taken any action against the owners of the O2 Arena in relation to Justin Bieber’s recent performance, as no breach of our licensing conditions took place.
“It is simply a contractual issue between AEG and the artist involved, and there is no requirement for performances to finish by 11pm.
“The O2 is the world’s most popular entertainment venue and sells over two million tickets each and every year as it plays host to many of the world’s biggest names.
“We take any complaints made in relation to the venue very seriously, but it is an urban myth to suggest we have ever levied a fine in relation to a performance there.”
And things were back on track for Justin last night – he arrived on stage early.
A spokesperson wrote on the O2’s official Twitter feed: “We are happy to report that Justin Bieber made it on stage two minutes early this evening.”
