KELLY OSBOURNE TURNING JAPANESE On ITV2
ITV2 presents this exciting new series with the infamous Kelly Osbourne. Over three hour-long episodes, viewers will see Kelly discover the bizarre and unknown society of Japan by taking the ultimate working holiday. Throwing herself into a wide range of jobs and after-work activities, Kelly struggles with the language barrier and homesickness. It’s a rollercoaster ride as Kelly is unleashed amongst the politest society on earth! Kelly Osbourne Turning Japanese is brand new and exclusive to ITV2, Thursdays from 1 February at 9pm.
Japan and its culture have been an obsession for Kelly from a very young age and in this series she plunges into the most bizarre, unusual and culturally alien activities. Kelly uncovers the unknown stories of Japanese society and experiences both the old and the new in one of the world’s most traditionally closed nations. Kelly uncovers strange and compelling regimes and turns Japanese in mind, body and soul.
In this series Kelly is not simply observing Japanese life and culture – she’s living it at the deep end! She undertakes big, exciting and potentially life-changing challenges, inspired by ancient Japanese culture as well as modern day Japan. Kelly is the first to admit her life has been one of privilege, freedom and ballsy self-conviction but does Turning Japanese make her reassess her life and help her to find inner peace and calm?
In episode one, Kelly meets her Japanese companion Yumi who proves to be an invaluable help throughout her stay. Settling into her chic downtown apartment on her first night, Kelly has a comical time getting to grips with Japan’s automated toilets. The next morning Kelly is ready to begin her new adventure. She battles with the highly confusing Tokyo subway while making her way to her first job as a waitress in a ‘geek’ café. Once she has been let loose amongst the geeks, Kelly spills the coffee she is serving and can barely suppress fits of laughter. When asked if she has ever been a waitress before she retorts: “I’m a spoilt brat who was brought up in Buckinghamshire and Beverley Hills. Do I look like I’ve ever been a waitress?
Kelly’s next post is as a receptionist at one of Japan’s busiest ‘Love Hotels’. In these palaces of passion, couples can live out their fantasies away from the prying eyes of parents and neighbours. Kelly is soon caught up in the mayhem of checking couples in and out of the hotel, cleaning rooms and keeping red hot lovers fuelled with sex toys, beer and…pot noodles! The episode closes with Kelly attending a Samurai class with Grand master Mr Weno. Will Kelly impress her Grand master enough to take part in a highly respected public performance, where even a foot out of place is an insult?
This show airs on ITV2 Thursday 1 February 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM

I hate her. She is going to ruin Japan, and give it a negitive connotation. She is going to ruin it…..*shakes head in displease*
Really enjoyed the show, especially because I’m going to be doing a year-long working holiday in Japan from July! Kelly’s incessant complaining is irritating though.
Loved the show kelly Osbourne is Brill in it good on her for saying she wasent comfortable doing it i love her think she is great carnt wait to see the rest
Jesus christ! Why do the Osbournes sell themselves out when nobody’s watching. This is exactly whats wrong with society, people are GIVEN to them means of influence when they obviously do not deserve it. Just because mommy and daddy have the big bucks doesn’t mean that this spoiled whiney brat deserves to be on the television.
I can’t belive people still pay for cable when all were getting fed is paid for advertisements of some family corporatiuon.
I love the show, I think it’s great entertainment… but yeah Kelly’s constant complianing does get somewhat aggrovating.
I think kelly is great, and i think the Show Rocks, I never miss a eposisode. my eyes are always glude to the tele. kelly is not onli amazin and good looking but shes the queen of rock in my eyes.i wanna grow up just to be like her one day xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Im not really watching the show because it’s Kelly Osbourne, but because of Japan. hell i think its so interesting. people ARE watching this, if not, why are we all writing about it? beside at the end of the day for her, its work! she gets money for it and has a laff doing it.
yeah she can be a bit anoying sometimes but it all work well together i think, thus making it a fun and interesting show. If you dont like it, dont watch it….though i bet you still will.
I love the show!!! Its sooooooo cool because i like the Osbourne’s and i love Japan. It’s 2 in 1. lol.
It’s depressing to see such an irritating and spoiled little drug addict like Kelly Osbourne getting her way each and every time. She guys cars left and right, lives in the best houses, eats ALOT of the best food and shops like crazy, spending tons of her fathers money…and now her own since people are paying her to prostitute her fat little face all the time. We have only ourselves to hate for her success. I hate myself.
[...] Kelly Osbourne has revelaed that during her two months of filming for ITV2’s Turning Japanese, she was mistaken for a prostitute on various occasions. [...]
i think it is brilliant. i now see kelly in a new light. i love the bit were she says ’she wants someone to be happy with there weight, instead of looking like Paris Hilton.’
On ITV2 is says this programme cannot be repeated because of “legal reasons” – there’s just a still frame stating this for the duration of the scheduled programmed – can anyone think why this is the case??
Agree with pandakiller I am intrigued. Why is it not being shown?
I think japan should kick Kelly out!
As if shes a fan of japan..she knows sh*t all about japan and this TV program offends Japanese and certainly helps mis-educate the masses about Japan. This is more a program about kelly and some western attitude’s than learning anything about japan or even turning Japanese…as if! They could of learnt so much more… missed opportunity.
First and for most I love the show and to say that oh shes not a fan of japan… so stupid.. i mean shes trying to learn about japan and all it has to offer.. dont hate on kelly.. and she doesn’t just compalin she trys to do all of this things that are so far out of her compfort zone…she is trying to show pple about japan and all of its traditions .. dont hate guys .. like come on
I’m not a big fan of the Osbourne family, their cloven hoofed progeny in particular, but I’ve found new respect for Kelly after seeing this show. Having lived in Japan for longer than I care to remember, I was glad to see someone highlight some of the less savoury aspects of Japanese society and not kowtow to the popular stereotypes perpetuated by so much of the media. To her credit, she did persevere with some seriously disciplined training (albeit with the usual spray of invectives and complaints), but was centred enough to know where to draw the line- something many of the local residents have no clue about.
I love watching kelly as she is so down to earth and very great to watch, just love watching her in any program as she brings it to life and makes it real, keep going kelly ignore those who moan as you always get one.
u all are stupid!
I think maybe the people who use this site should spend a little less time watching t.v. and a little more time reading and improving their spelling and grammatical skills, just goes to show its true about t.v. rotting your brain.
I think she is really down to earth, and definitly presented in a really bad way by media. This show is great but it annoys me how they portray Japan as obsessed on sex. Like the cosplay in the 2nd ep!
i -AM- a cosplayer and its not at ALL ’sexual’ like they show it! It is true the Japanese do make it somewhat sexual but its not.. its as they said, an expression and its really creative and a fantastic way to meet people, even though some might call it ‘geeky’; but to be fair cosplayers don’t care if theyre classed as geeks.
As great as this show is and compelling entertainment they are really showing Japan’s culture activities (like the cosplay) in entirely the wrong light.
Why oh why was this girl let to represent anything more than her attention disorder..
I am sorry to be harsh, however for a program on Turning
Japanese,BUT I feel that perhaps a person with an
interest in Japan might have been better suited.
The program has some adjusted subtitles…
The comments on her behavior are not accurately translated.
She constantly spurts out obscene language breaking every single code of behavior that, all of wich easy to get your head around.
A pantomime while in not only a temple but Swearing in crowded tokyo train..
These may sound commonplace for a drunken street back home. but it an equivalent to the behavior of an animal in a place where people live in limited space.
She seems to have stayed there without making any effort other than to be with people who speak english..
Some people look slightly beneath the surface of Japan.
Such a shame that a television program used its
chance, and influence in such a wastefull way,
Its hard to get a chance to make a UK quality program in
dear Japan..
Kelly you have let down the nation..
I hope you sort yourself out,,
I have heard stories about Tokyo prison
That would probably sort out your bad language..
In fact you might even make some friends.
as for her expression of “excuse me” being said in an aggressive tone,, its the same as in english..
it doesn’t mean `f you.. that’s another two whole words..
The most surprising thing is that she constantly complained about having no friends.. Tokyo is full of
people who want to make friends.. about 32 million..
I LOVE WATCHING KELLY OSBOURNE,SHE IS BRILL AND FOR THOSE WHO MOANED ABOUT HER SHOULDNT BE WATCHING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, YOU SHOULD GET A LIFE YOU SAD MOANERS;I THINK SHE SHOWS GOOD VIBS FOR US GIRLS WHO FEEL WE DONT AVE TO BE SKINNY TO BE NOTICED. ROCK ON KELLY GO FOR IT.
This is the first time I’ve seen Kelly doing anything other than sing (never watched the Osbournes) *been living under a rock*
But despite all the trash some of you have to say
\rant
BTW the little red line under mistyped words are a hint that you may want to spell check and read it before you post, it’s really not that difficult and if it is, put your PC back in the box and return it (tell them you’re just too stupid)
/rant
I think she is a very real person, someone you could have a proper laugh with, certainly not one of these up-themselves chicks that seem to be popping up everywhere, after all the rubbish she has had to put up with, being in the shadow of her fathers fame all her life, she’s open, honest and down to earth. Awesome show, hope she does the rest of the world with the same vigour in the next season. *fingers crossed*
I found the show realy interesting as i am hoping to move to japan when old enough. i thaught kelly did realy well but did feal that her language was inapropriate at times. i am gutted that i missed the start of the show as the loo thing sounds quite interesting. theyr not showing it again?why? why can they show it once but not again due to legal reasons? I agee with tobiasthefish, she didnt try very hard to learn japanese. she was there for however many weeks and learnt virtuly no japanese. why not get a cd or something to learn from? i was pleased with her respect she had for the geisha but thaught her attitude when she was a monk for a day was appaling. her translator anoyed me and felt that she sometimes said things just to agree with kelly. What do you all think?
yumi is beautiful and lovely
hello rich.
i love the show it was great it showed kelly in a different way wish it could be on again but kelly doing different things this time. I LOVED WATCHING KELLY IN THE CAFE she was fun and he love hotel lolol…. when is it on again….? luv ya caron

I think this is a great show and I loved watching it, as it was so funny at times. I think that Kelly Osbourne is what we should all aspire to be like, she’s very ‘what you see is what you get’ and never tries to be something she isn’t. I know that she’s spoilt and she does aswell and she doesn’t try to deny it like some people do. Also she doesn’t just spend Sharon and Ozzy’s money she has pleanty of her own to spend and if they choose to give it to her it’s their choice. Also it’s good that she knows she doesn’t look like Paris Hilton (I personally think Kelly’s a lot prettier) and doesn’t want to and is happy with herself and she is a role model because to many young girls nowadays insist on going on stupid diets and they turn out annorexic like half the celebrities out their today so atleas we’ve found one celeb who’s not a fake.

I loved the part where Kelly cosplayed as Lacus from Gundam Seed. Cuz I’m such a huge japanese anime fan x] I haven’t cosplayed before but I’m going to in a few months. But I had no idea Japan culture was erm… so sexual. o.o I was pretty surprised. (or maybe the show made it look that way even though its not?)
I think Kelly just use an usual way to express her real feelings about travelling in japan. In face, this is a real Japanese society. I’m not quite sure about what real attitude of Japanese people about this lifestyle, is it good or not for them? But just for its World War Two history and the Japan Government’s attitude in Comfort Women, I just can say Japan didn’t have a bravery in the face of the past history. Their behaviour is in direct contradiction to their Bushido spirit !

I’m Japanese living in Canada and watched this show lately… I don’t know about Kelly so much at all but just as the daughter of Ozzy… was glad to see a non-Japanese girl trying our stuff, but what I hate this kind of shows the most is that the show looks like telling people that Japan is all like that. I hate when people talk about Japan in that way as if those are totally normal! To be honest, the “Maid Cafe” is not something normal we do. The massage place, of course normal Japanese girls wouldn’t do that either, it’s not our culture either!!! To my eyes, it’s a perverted place. Those girls who work at those places make lots of money out of it because that’s one of those jobs that people would never want to do. It’s not a regular job like you could tell people. Agh, this kind of shows make people misunderstand about us! Kelly, before complaining that much, you should have learned a little bit of the language at least!!! It’s impolite to speak your own laungage in a foreign country like nothing expecting us to understand it just becuase it’s English! Sorry guys, I couldn’t stop myself to write my opinion right after I watched this…
[...] else? What else? OH, on tv I’ve been watching Kelly Osbourne: Turning Japanese and Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane. Why? Because I’ve got nothing else to watch and these [...]
well, i like this show, and i live Kelly, i know she is spoiled, but she has not chose it, she was born like that, but i do moved by she expressed her feeling that she is lonely and venerable some times. it is very intersting to see somethings happened in Japan, bright or dark, i abosolutely agree with Luca, that these things can not present Japan at all, but i am very happy to see something interesting. will stick to this program it is just for a laugh, pure entertainment.
this is shit
Kelly needs to get a friggin back bone.
I bet shes never done a hard days work in her life, and it shows.
Her moaning is so rude and what is even more annoying is when she keeps blaming the so called “Language barrier” I have been living in Japan for a year now and speak only very very basic japanese but I can get through daily life fine, so why cant she? and shes got a translator around 24/7!
Why couldnt they have sent someone else, like Ricky Gervais!? lol
