Leona Lewis, First Female Winner of the X Factor, 2006
After a very exciting evening of both Leona Lewis and Ray Quinn entertaining us as never before with their talented singing of phenomenal standard, Leona became the first female winner of the X Factor.
Ray’s hi lite of the evening must surely have been his singing with Westlife and Leona with Take That. Both did exceptionally well. Take That lead singer urged Simon Cowell to look after Leona as he felt she was a very special performer. There was much excitement over the cutting of her first single which will be on sale from Wednesday but is already available on the internet.
Simon Cowell proudly stated that Leona was the best contestant they have ever had on the X Factor and that she was World Class and that Britain now has a strong British contender for the world market.

One song choice decided this, pretty even after the first song both fantastic performances, RAY was far more at ease with Westlife and performed as if he was one of them Leona looked stiff and out of place with TAKE THAT.The single was dire, Leona’s voice suited it more than Rays but I dont like the song anyway, now this is where Simon lost it for Ray, Leonas strong song ALL BY MYSELF,actually a typical Leona type song of the past weeks but Ray landed with the tedious FLY ME TO THE MOON, song wise,no contest,Ray had little chance to shine as he can with that ancient song and Leona given the big strong finish ballad.That sums up x factor this year, all the best handed to Leona,She will be a huge star though,no doubt but to last she will have to get more versatile and quick.Rod.
Rod I really believe that both Leona and Ray will be big stars as both are so tallented. Ray is a very lovable person with a big talent but Leona is phenominal. A modern day Barbara Streisand.
There always seems to be favouring of one or another in reality shows but at the end of the day we are all only human. I will continue to write against such things as long as I am able. Did you know that Leona won with sixty per cent of the votes?

Yes Evelyn I heard that today hardly a too close to call as we were getting told right up to the last few minutes, I also think Simon is going to do something with Ray. Rod.
Last year I was really behind Maria and when she went out I couldn’t believe it, so I don’t know why Leona did not inspire me in the same way. But she didn’t.
There just wasn’t a sparkle there but I wish her all the best and she has got a fab voice.
Ray I am sure will be a star, and rightly so. Just watch the re-runs of the early auditions and you will know what I mean.
