Naomi Campbell the new Simon Cowell as The Face modelling show hits the UK?
Naomi Campbell has joined the judging panel of new UK reality TV show The Face.
It is reported that bosses of the series are hoping the 42 year old British super model will be the ‘Simon Cowell’ of the show, bringing her no nonsense attitude and blunt opinions to the judges’ table, as she casts her expert eye over a series of hopeful models.
Naomi already acts as one of three coach/judges (along with Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha) on the American version of the show, which is hosted by photographer and America’s Next Top Model star Nigel Barker. She is also the executive producer of the show.
The Face seems to be a mix of the ANTM and The X Factor format, as the show aims to find a model to become ‘the face’ of a major fashion brand.
The series has been airing in the US since the middle of last month and will be adapted for the UK where it will air on Sky Living. Channel bosses have insisted that the arrival of the new show, does not mean the cancellation of their flagship fashion series Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model.
A source told The Sun:
“Naomi has been a revelation. The deal isn’t done but it should be on air later this year.”
Campbell recently tweeted her followers, telling them what she was looking for from the models in her team, on the US show. She wrote:
“I do not want my girls to emulate me. Want to bring the best out of who they are. #Go #teamnaomi #theface”
